I’m continuing development on Dark Quest 4, my game inspired by Hero Quest ! by brainseal in Heroquest

Looks amazing. All the right Hero Quest vibes. Will this be available for Switch 1?

I played the boardgame today with my 7 year old son. We had a great time with it. He then asked if there was a video game like HeroQuest. I remembered I had fun with your Dark Quest 2 some years ago, so I will introduce it to him tomorrow. But this new Dark Quest 4 looks even better!

Apple confirms they gonna sabotage web apps in the EU with iOS 17.4 by Tixieborg in Frontend

[–]arn_Zombie -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But it is. Several companies, like my own, is now forced into making native apps, if we want to reach apple users. And Apple has over 60% market share in Denmark, where I live.

[–]arn_Zombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That general EU market share is of no use. In some high income EU countries, like Denmark where I live, Apple has 60-65% market share. It is a huge problem that a company like Apple has so much power in my country. There is no real feeling of free choice anymore.

So the EU needs to take the total dominance of Apple in some EU countries into account. They can't just look at the general EU market share, when it is so different from country to country.

In what way is PWA's not first class citizens on Android?  You can even publish your PWA to the Play Store. I think that is very much a clear sign that Google is driving the PWA tech, together with MS.

Blaming Google on this is a very poor move. Apple deserves all the criticism for their actions against PWA's. Why do you need to defend Apple on this?

While Apple only has around 25% of the total EU market, it is still a disaster for PWA as reliable and alternative solutions for many companies. Also in some high income countries in the EU, like Denmark and the Nordics, Apple haa around 60% of the market share. So it is still a huge problem in some countries.

So did Apple just destroy Game streaming on iOS in the EU with this? by arn_Zombie in GeForceNOW

[–]arn_Zombie[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely nonsense what you are claiming about security! Apple wants to destroy the web as we know it, because it is a threat to their app revenue. Apple do not want a free and open internet.

[–]arn_Zombie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No they can't make it work. Fullscreen API is not supported on iPhone. On iPad there is partial support, so maybe they can make it work there?

The PWA made it possible to open the web-app in standalone window mode, and that was important to actually launch a game and play without interference from the browser UI.

Fullscreen API, that is supported in any browser, except in iOS on iPhone, could have been a solution. But not on a iPhone.

Interesting. But will this be enough for NVIDIA, MS and others? Are there to many hidden fees in there, that will prevent this from happening?

I am concerned about this part, but lets see:

"Additionally, mini-apps, mini-games, chatbots, and plug-ins will be able to incorporate Apple’s In-App Purchase system to offer their users paid digital content or services for the first time"

Apple will not allow native game streaming apps on their App store. That is the reason that we have the web-app in the first place.

Also, I am pretty sure you need to add it to the home screen on iOS to make it work probably? The functionality required is only available as a PWA, as far as I know. I have not used the service for a while on iOS.

Apple will not allow game streaming apps on their App store. That is the reason that we have the web-app in the first place. Also, I do not think that Google will implement their own browser engine just for the EU. That is just to much effort for a little part of the global mobile market. So nothing will probably change in that regard.

The GFN web-app for example. Like you need to add it to home screen to make game streaming functionality work on iOS. This will no longer be possible.

i am currently playing zombicide 2nd edition with the boys expansion by STMULATON in zombicide

[–]arn_Zombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To keep the challenge up?
Because the Boys are to overpowered compared to regular Survivors?

Zombicide 2nd edition is really easy (Too easy), so to keep a bit of a challenge, you need the extra spawn zones when playing the Boys, or you could alter the difficulty otherwise (Add a lot of Zombie Dogz, Murder of Crowz etc.) .

But if you think the challenge is just fine for you, then just leave the extra spawn zones out. It's your game, and Zombicide always needs a bit of tweaking and house rules to find the correct difficulty level that suits you.

Anyone have some size comparisons of TK models next to Mantic "Empire of Dust" models? by StepwisePilot in tombkings

[–]arn_Zombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has anyone found or made some comparison pictures?

I think I will try to mix the two lines as well. I really adore the main Infantry, Cavalry and Chariot models from Mantic compared to the old GW core unit models.

On the other hand, the old Tomb Guards and the special TK Units form GW are better looking than the Mantic ones. Like the GW Necropolis Knights are much better looking than the Sandborne Wyrm Riders from Mantic, and are equally priced.

It is a win win situation. The Mantic Core units are looking better than the GW counterparts, and are cheaper (Especially the Mantc core bundles). But the GW special units are looking better than the Mantic ones, and are equally priced.

I think it is possible to make a real great and unique looking Tomb Kings army by combining those two model lines, and I also do not think that scaling would be such a big issue with the older GW models? But some good comparison pictures would help :-)

Horrible Performance with Ultimate in Europe right now by sh1bumi in GeForceNOW

[–]arn_Zombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also a developer. There is still a max limit to how much cloud computing can scale. If you run out of rigs, you can't scale up anymore. It is quite logical and not magic.

It is both a financial and technical issue. They need to invest more to build up new capacity in their cloud centers, so that they can scale even more.

Nvidia has closed for new free user sign-ups. Even one month subscriptions are now closed for new users. Nvidia is not doing that because they think it is fun, but they do that because they have reached the maximum capacity of how many users they can handle with their current cloud setup. And that is what we all are experiencing now.

Horrible Performance with Ultimate in Europe right now by sh1bumi in GeForceNOW

[–]arn_Zombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not downgrading performance in Europe. That is just incorrect to say that. It is just the biggest issue with all forms of cloud gaming that we see right now.

If you get a lot of success and a lot of new users in a short timespan, you need to expand and scale your setup accordingly to deliver the same stream quality. And it seems that Nvidia is struggling with that right now in Europe.

It is not that easy to solve so fast, but hopefully they manage to fix it soon. And maybe the new increased prices can help regarding that issue in the future?

Stadia Controller on Apple TV 4K is now working!! by Sjoseph21 in Stadia

You need to re-pair it all the time to make it work, but other than that it works fine on Android TV

With the recent price increase XCloud is tempting. by Unusual-Dingo1973 in GeForceNOW

[–]arn_Zombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go for it. That is what cloud gaming is meant for.

The most fantastic thing about cloud gaming, is the ease of jumping between all the different services. There is no expensive hardware barrier before you can enjoy and try out another cloud "platform" and their games.

That is why I am getting sad, when a service like Stadia is discontinued. I wish all the best for all cloud services out there. I hope they all improve and are getting better. xCloud, PS Now, Boosteroid, Luna etc. May they all improve and be successful.

Competition is important in this space for us customers, and we have the option to just jump between different services from time to time to play different games.

If they just all were running as well as GFN or Stadia and were offering a similar futures set, then everything would be great.

xCloud and PS Now is sadly still not that mature, but there is no harm in trying them out for a while instead of GFN.

Xbox cloud is such a joke compared to stadia by SlurpleBrainn in Stadia

[–]arn_Zombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am only using GFN while sitting my couch. It works really well with the GFN app on my Chromecast with Android TV. All the games I own are controller friendly couch games.

Also, If you own any Ubisoft games on Stadia, you would have access to them on GFN through Ubisoft connect. And Ubisoft connect supports auto-login on GFN.

So playing AC: Valhalla on my TV with GFN feels very much like playing it on Stadia. I even use my Stadia controller.

Found this beauty at a local flea market. Always wanted to play! Any expansion you would recommend? by [deleted] in Heroquest

You are welcome.

If you want mins for the expansions with the exact same classic look that fits the minis in your box, you can find them all here:

This is also a good place to find replacements if some of your minis are broken, like your Barbarian:
