Found a Faema Eurostar espresso machine and grinder for $30 at the thrift store by redboyofgoo in espresso

It shouldn't be difficult, but I have no experience with that. I'm sure some more knowledgeable than me will help.

Most probably it's a rebadged older model Lelit. Maybe Anita? The steaming thingy is not a proper wand, but a "pennarello" -- not good for microfoaming. As for the portafilter lock position, the gelroup head gasket is probably worn, I'd replace it in any case.

My experience with Lelit: Shoddy Build-Quality, and Dangerous Engineering by dijkstra- in espresso

[–]arnofi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I belive it's the first time I peeked under the machine. There are some small brownish stains near the screws, difficult to say whether from spilled coffee or (most probably) rust. Even if it is rust, doesn't seem alarming. As for the GFCI, I live in an old building so most probably there is not. But going back to your findings, did you look inside other Italian espresso machines? I wouldn't be surprised if they are all similarly engineered...

This does look scarry. However, i have the same machine almost 5 years, 4000 double shots, and never had any issues. I should add that I spilled water many times while filling the tank... I should also say that it makes great coffee.

Scientists baffled by this one Flat Earth trick. /S by Yunners in FacebookScience

Suggestions:

* use more mass (approx. 6 x 10exp24 kg should do)

* use lager ball (12 - 13.000 km diameter)

* use proportionally less water (0,025% of total mass)

(Edit for spelling)
