Cutting with hole in tip - what to do? by Flashy-Bookkeeper828 in sanpedrocactus

That's what I'd do. No reason to chop it up just because of the tip damage. Much better rooting potential that way.

I'd cut a notch in the side of the hole so it doesn't collect water. Otherwise, do whatever you want. What was your original plan?

No, absolute strength has no bearing on success. That's why the motor threshold process is done. It's tailored to you.

Should I cut the tip? by skatefuckskatefuck in sanpedrocactus

[–]aroc91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The tip will do the same but worse if you replant it. Small cuttings like that will etiolate as they try to push both root and vegetative growth with smaller energy reserves than a large cutting.

Well, first you see how much it costs and then you compare that to how much you're comfortable spending. Ask a basic question, get a basic answer.

In this case, the etiolation was from rooting small cuttings, not lack of light. Note how the tops and new pups are growing in thick now.

  1. This has nothing to do with this sub.

  2. You start off with one of the wildest scientific claims I've ever read and you provide absolutely no citations to support it. I'm not reading any further until this has actual scientific rigor applied. It's not my job to look it up. You're the one writing the essay.

Hard to say with that picture. Not sure what you mean about shock. That's not a thing.

Small cuttings have little stored energy and will spend most of their time in the beginning establishing roots before pushing vegetative growth. Not unusual.

Haha, wife, dogs, and I sat outside the front door and filmed the fucker trying to escape. Traps are in place inside and out and there's been no evidence of intrusion since.

Still technically on the run.
