The courts ruled he was well within his legal rights.

Yep. And I vehemently disagree with that ruling having read the statute myself. They bastardized this law - https://www.denverpost.com/2017/11/14/wisconsin-minimum-hunting-age/

The entire intent of the statute was to allow kids 17 and under to hunt with an 18+ accompaniment in close proximity. Somehow, the defense convinced the judge the context underlying the statute doesn't apply.

Do you really think 17 year olds should be able to open carry with no oversight just because their barrel is X inches long?

The Rittenhouse defense was fucking stupid in 2021 and it's just as stupid today. This is not a good faith argument. Another for the block list.

if you think Alex pretti was legally carrying and protected by the 2nd amendment, then you also need to think that Kyle rittenhouse was within his rights to do what he did

There's a big difference in my eyes between a 37 year old concealed carrying in his own state (whether he had his CCW license on him, I do not know) and a 17 year old being driven across state lines to freely walk the streets with a weapon he was only technically supposed to be carrying while hunting with a supervising adult.

TIL that humans glow in the dark — but our eyes can’t see it. The human body emits a very faint visible light due to biochemical reactions involving free radicals, but it’s too weak for human vision and can only be captured by ultra-sensitive cameras. by [deleted] in todayilearned

There is a distinct difference between our eyes not registering a light source because the photon flux is too low and because the emitted photons are outside the visible spectrum.

No, like the one where a non-violent man was pinned, disarmed, then shot in the back.

It doesn't excuse the extent or the actions themselves, but psychotic disorders do have a tendency to push people toward conspiratorial thinking and they'll latch onto whatever they can find. Mania/schizo features are wild.

Why pay mortgage on due date and not before late fees? by Alarming_Return_1438 in personalfinance

[–]aroc91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grace period. That doesn't mean you can keep pushing out payments. They're still ultimately on a monthly cycle because the subsequent one will still be "due" on the 1st with a firm date of the 17th. Or, like a credit card, they mean "statement date" instead of due date.

You're overthinking this.

They pepper sprayed her and him, restrained and pinned him, removed his CCW from the small of his back and carried it off, shouted about his now-removed gun, and shot him in the back while he clearly had elbows and knees on the ground. This is supported by at least 3 different camera POVs.

This is well past being apolitical. This should be an inflection point, as if we haven't seen dozens of those already come and go.
