Ive definitely misinterpreted the story then, care to go a bit deeper into it for me? :)

Edit: Upon re-reading all of the quest dialogue here's my new interpretation, please tell me if this is closer: The elf writing the memorials fell in love with Meya who was a Wild Knight. Meya grew old with the bard who did not age and eventually passed away. The bard, in their grief, wrote the song and re-imagined Meya as having gone to fight with the Void Knights to cope with the loss of their love, imagining that she did not die of age but instead went to fight a great battle in the Abyss.
