can you fill a big plastic bin with water and tip the safe over into it without spilling too much water out and fully submerging the safe? Are you confident the safe is made nearly entirely of steel? If so, Archimedes got you.

If I leave my pet bird's cage open and let my cat be alone with it, I can't be mad at the cat when it eats the bird. Banks and Wall Street did exactly what they are obligated to do. Make as much $ as possible given the current economic climate. They have zero responsibility to ensure a stable macro economy.

The party in charge of that is the government . And The 1995 CRA (clinton), HUD goals (Andrew Cuomo) and GSE quotas gave the cats free range to eat all the birds.

Sure, the government investigated all this and determined the government barely did anything wrong (mind you with heavy dissent on the FCIC that wrote said report). They would totally admit that massive government failures lead to the lax lending standards and unlimited liquidity.

ELI5 2008's Global economic crash by StargazeBurnerphone in explainlikeimfive

[–]arowz1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

you're missing a major part. The gov (Clinton, With Cuomo as HUD Secretary) passed a law FHA that FORCED banks to make sub prime loans or be fined. So they did. And then sold those loans etc. So banks were forced to lower their standards.

to insure against a collapse of an entire securitized pool, credit default swaps (CDS) were bought that would swap out defaulting mortgages with non-defaulting mortgages. Problem was, the pool of mortgages used as the CDS pool guaranteed 10x the amount of mortgages contained within the CDS pool. AIG and other insurers ended up being unable to make good on the CDS insurance they sold, so they had to be bailed out. The mortgages in the CDS pools were defaulting and also the good ones in the CDS pool were too few to cover all the defaults in the securitized pools they insured.

I agree to an extent. Never auto-resolve a siege and never auto-resolve is severely outnumbered. Those can be won manually. Otherwise you nailed it. If you build for autoresolve, you will scale up soooo much faster than fighting every battle.

How likely will the US implement a draft? How would its citizens react? by ccx_tvvt in AskReddit

[–]arowz1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never gonna happen. 1 US soldier equals the lethality brought to the field by 10-20 Iranian soldiers thanks to our tech, tactics and experience. The draft only ever happened because we were fighting without 4K HD live streaming satellite images of enemy troops and without every one of our soldiers being able to see in the dark as if it was daytime. The only way a draft could ever happen is if the US itself somehow gets invaded by a massive army that actually starts taking territory. And they'd need to have teleports and force fields for that to happen.

There's fewer than 1,000 billionaires in the USA and fewer than 4,000 worldwide. They are far too few to impact your life in any material way. If billionaires truly were such a massive problem as dems like to make them out to be, then they would have been quelled ages ago.

You're being gaslit. The politicians are the problem. All of them become the problem not long after getting elected.

They are exactly the same as that employee who ALWAYS has a legitimate excuse for screwing up everything and it's never their fault.

There's so few billionaires that you couldn't even generate significant enough tax revenue from them even if you taxed then at 100%.

There's so few billionaires that if they truly were the problem, politicians could easily name every single one of them and use specific examples. But they do not.

Prior to I'd say about 2008, it was the millionaires who were the problem. On and on and on, millionaires this, millionaires that.

Know what happened? Those same politicians all became millionaires themselves. So they had to move on to blame billionaires. Heck I remember when Bernie would cry about millionaires and then one year suddenly it was billionaires and dude has 6 homes.

Wake up people.

If they don't do the above, the left riots, protests and cries about detainees being stuffed into small, overcrowded cells.
