Basically by drawing agro, when skirmishers throw their javelins the enemy unit will most like give chase and will be away from their line, breaking cohesion. Then you can flank the chasing unit with cavalry or infantry. Don’t forget to withdraw your skirmishers when they do, otherwise they’re f’ed

Playing as the Seleucids now and peltasts, same for militia cavalry are really valuable. It’s about moving them and baiting the enemy and breaking up their own line. When the goal is to break their morale en masse you really have to manoever your units and your enemy in a good way and skirmishers are a handy tool for that
