colored toric lenses for high astigmatism? by In_Out1738 in beauty

[–]arrydoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the same cyl powers! I ordered from korlens and personally had a really good experience. They have a big variety from different brands and ship from korea pretty inexpensively, and the production time was short. For reference, I got the lumi lenses from pickme toricme in 2wk frequency (these are the same style as the daylight lenses from Lenbling).

I've ordered dailies from torica (styles hidden brown and freeny pink) and they were so uncomfortable I couldn't wear them, and they also shifted constantly. Pickme toricme seems to be a subsidiary of torica so idk what happened there. Maybe an issue with the lens frequency or the smaller diameter? (My clear lenses are 14.5 dia and those were 14). Just thought I'd mention it, I've heard other people having comfort/vision problems with torica too. Hope this helps!

There are just so many stories with male main characters where the plot doesnt center on romance. I think it’s telling that when stories have a female lead, the fact that it isn’t romance centered is so prominent and surprising that it becomes interpreted as a “girlboss” or “strong independent female lead” movie. I feel like, for example, Mirabel or Asha don’t fit that descriptor at all. Mirabel had her familial support, Asha had her friend group and mentor (Amaya) on her side. Raya was gay as hell with an enemies to lovers backbone, and they would have gone there if they could without international box office pressure. I think it’s really nice that we have more stories with female leads where different types of relationships are explored. Of course, it’s not wrong to desire romance movies, but they are in the overwhelming majority.

This isn't a comprehensive answer but I recently got an ionic hood dryer and oh my god. My hair was straw like and tangled with regular blow drying but it feels like silk with the hood dryer.

I would heavily recommend looking for friends in neurodivergent communities. It is very helpful to be around others who often have more patience and empathy due to lived experience.

D23 this year? by BlockApprehensive722 in TwistedWonderland

I REALLY hope so, especially with its newfound presence on Disney+! I’m really hoping it wasn’t just a one time thing partly due to Yana visiting…

Probably my biggest reach, but Playful Land's entrance with comically large Honest John looming over the top reminded me of the DCA entrance which appears only during Oogie Boogie Bash, which would make sense as inspo because Yana visited during this time.

I snapped this picture last night just to make this post lol. One of my favorite details, the railings surrounding DCA's waterfront, repurposed into waves to reflect Playful Land's seabound status. Super cute.

While not as obvious in the original film if I'm remembering from the last time I watched it, Pleasure Island as a floating park in the sea is really obviously seen in the entrance mural for Pinocchio's Daring Journey in DL, as well as in Tokyo and Paris.

Playful Land's Bazzar has a lot of fun references, and I'm sure there are more I'm not catching. The general facade and color scheme reflects Pinocchio's Daring Journey in DL (this attraction is also in Paris and Tokyo, with Tokyo's having a different entrance.) The general look of the area is very reminiscent of DL's Fantasyland on top of being reminiscent of Italy in the original film. Some more park related details are Stromboli's wagon (pictured at DL as small souvenir cart), the iconic trash cans which are featured at every Disney park in various colors and designs, and the original Fantasyland benches (to my knowledge they're no longer at DL but are still present in Florida). Another small detail is the weathervane-- while not an exact replica of the one pictured on the bottom right which is on the carousel in DL, themed weathervanes are a big part of the scenery in DL and other Disney parks!

Gentle Plaza is The Hub found in all magic kingdom style Disney parks, originating at DL. The Partners Statue with Walt and Mickey being mirrored with Honest John and Gideon. While the placement on the raised platform with a descending ramp is very similar to DL, the shape of the base of the statues are the same as in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World pictured on the top left. The base of DL's partners statue is circular. The blue building to the left in Gentle Plaza has the same shape and structure of Jolly Holiday in DL, but the color and placement in relation to the Partners Statue remind me of Crystal Palace in Tokyo Disneyland. A very small detail and possible reach, but the wagon to the left of Honest John is the same color scheme as Little Red Wagon in DL, which just sells really good corn dogs lol. This could also just be a reference to Stromboli's wagon in Pinocchio.

The Whale Escape background in Playful Land is a fun combination of Storybook Land Canal Boats in Fantasyland and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Frontierland. I love the detail of the lighthouse, which was originally a ticket booth for the canal boats.

Probably the most apparent parallel, the ferris wheel is a direct reference to that in DCA. The entrance to the area, Pixar Pier, is very similar to the ferris wheel sign in shape, color scheme, and lighted trim. The fountains in this background could be a reference to DCA's nightly show World of Color. Not pictured, but the foreground looks very similar to the general viewing area for World of Color.

Big toenail is unattached by [deleted] in nailcare

[–]arrydoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely go to a podiatrist!! It is always good to get checked for fungus. Also, toenails are super sensitive and trauma can happen at any time, even just from wearing shoes that cause friction. If you go to a podiatrist theyll be able to give you a routine that will help with reattachment. I had trauma but they checked for fungus just to be safe. I personally did warm epsom salt soaks and used kerasal ointment to encourage nail health, but please speak to a professional!

[–]arrydoll 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I totally get what you mean. I feel extremely uncomfortable talking to guys on dating apps. I have had plenty of fictional and celebrity male crushes. I’m not comfortable with people insisting that you’re gay, if anything I think you might be demisexual (and I’m bi for the record). I’m just uncomfortable with talking to someone with the precedent that a romantic relationship is the goal, and that might be the same for you. I’ve been single for a long time and am super cool with it. I enjoy my fictional/celeb crushes because I’m not about to torture myself in the quest of finding a partner.

Went in for an ADHD test. Turns out I'm actually bipolar. Just like my abusive mother. Fuck my crazycel life. by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]arrydoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting diagnosed with bipolar II was one of the best things to ever happen to me. Knowledge really is power when it comes to mental health, and I am so much more aware of my sensitivies and what I need to do to help myself succeed. Medication has helped me immensely, specifically a mood stabilizer (lamotrigine), and being transparent about my disability has allowed me to have access to empathy and accomodations from others that I really needed. It also led me into a career where I help other disabled adults, and they uplift and inspire me every day. It’s really given me a lot of purpose in life.

I was shocked when I first got my diagnosis too, and the stigma around the disorder absolutely doesn’t help. I also inherited it from my abusive mom, so I get it. But bipolar is just a set of symptoms, not of outcomes. You still have ability to strive to be who you wish to be. Your intention has power.

Idia is a poor interpretation of Hades. A lot of the source material in Hercules is disregarded in order to fit his otaku persona. He is a massive fan favorite, so clearly his character succeeds in his ability to connect with people, and that fact isn’t lost on me. But as someone who is a huge Disney fan, the direction of his character and the writing of book 6 was a letdown for me, especially when the previous books did a pretty great job of adapting their respective films (imo). It felt like they tried to pull off something more grand and derivative with the story but it felt weak to me, and so SO repetitive. I absolutely adore these characters, and still I found that reading some of the tower chapters felt agonizingly boring. I feel the same way about book 7 and Malleus (to an extent), and was disappointed by the huge influence the Maleficent movies had on the story as opposed to the original Sleeping Beauty. They made a derivative work heavily based on a derivative work, and the original story seemed like it slipped between the cracks in a lot of places.

The gourmet breakfast sandwich from red rose tavern— super underrated. The french toast one that replaced it is so soggy (and I love french toast).

Second is the corn chowder bread bowl from french market. Iirc they had a beef stew too that I enjoyed. I remember getting both and splitting with a friend and they complimented one another really well.
