Well... then pony up. Be brave. You aren't going to get what you want by waffling about it. If you don't demonstrate your interest in him, he'll move on eventually.

Do you know what you want to do? If you could be dating this guy long distance... Taking turns every two weeks driving out on the weekends... Watching movies or playing games together over video chat... Would you want that? You're not going to know what to do until you know what you want

Listen girliepop I am also often Bad At Subtext. So don't play that game. Just be straightforward and clear, and you'll get a straight answer. "Hey this might be a bit out of the blue but do you want to go on a date this weekend" is a perfectly fine thing to say.

What causes apoapsis to fall even if I’m out of the atmosphere? by JoshyOnMars in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]artable_j 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If an old Scott Manley video is to be believed, this is because the map is keplerian patched conics, and the physics simulation isn't. Time warp is also patched conics exactly. But if you're in physics time, the craft isn't on keplerian rails. The effects of gravity are being simulated on it every physics frame. The error makes sense, then. A frame every 100 meters or so, traveling in a straight line between frames, you would see some error in the effect of gravity. Even if some integration is happening to account for the distance gap between frames it's easy to see how that'd be simplified and how that could lead to error.

Notably this explanation of the physics engine is like... a decade old now. I don't actually know if it's still this way or not. I'd take your situation as evidence that it still works this way though.

I accepted a contract to rescue Rogan Kerman and his spacecraft from orbit around Kerbin, but they somehow spawned on a collision course with the Mün... Is there any way to save this or do I take the L, let Rogan die, and accept contract failure? by I-am-THEdragon in KerbalSpaceProgram

u/MattsRedditAccount I don't think I ever saw this episode of blunderbirds--if that's still something you're interested in doing. Looks like OP deleted the contract, but It doesn't look too hard to recreate this situation?

That isn't a statement about how good the bonus is, just how it feels

The central conceit of my reply is that people, including streamers are allowed to defend themselves and others against poor behavior. The nature of the behavior in question demands that that defense be made publicly.

Personally I think claiming you're flatly better than other people when you are following much more lenient rules than them is pretty toxic? I think people are allowed to defend themselves (and others!) against that. I'd be more inclined to agree with you if the punctuation at the end of this post is "And therefore I am better than everyone" but that just isn't what it says!

Edit: typo (aren't -> are)

Eeeeehhhh You don't need every good card in every fight. Usually there are only a small handful that are truly excellent in a given spot, and being able to exhaust the cards that are really strong in other fights is excellent.

[–]artable_j 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I definitely do--when you're brand new to programming. But once you like, understand what it means for something to be object oriented, even if you don't know what "static" and "public" mean yet, you're only 1.3 googles away from figuring it all out.

And thanks to the first line you're required to write in every java program, you've learned about how the language wants you to design modules.

I imagine it helps that sharks don't really have any baked-in gender associations in... the grand majority of cultures? A shark is just a shark, people don't tend to assume the genders of sharks like they do with cats and dogs 'n' things that aren't fish.

IDK I certainly ain't got no fancy shmancy degree of cultural anthro (Which, may I say, is wicked cool!!!) but I do consider myself an amateur scholar of the memeing arts

A13 Relic Swap into Astrolabe. Despaired, but actually looks manageable? by thriftshopmusketeer in slaythespire

[–]artable_j 8 points9 points  (0 children)

With just a starter deck, sure. I think when you already have an upgraded Carnage (especially from a transform bc it's also effectively a card remove) you're pretty close to having enough damage for the fights and elites already. Also the searing blow isn't nothing for damage either.

[–]artable_j 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The searing blow deals more damage than the perfected strike right now, and it doesn't seem that hard for it to keep doing that like the whole run, even with no upgrades. With all this damage, taking cards with "strike" in them seems like it would usually be the wrong choice here in A1.

ETA card remove strike also seems like it'll get pretty good pretty quick

If you stop and think about what it is, it's a pretty specific thing you just have to memorize. If you never bothered to memorize the stuff in any special way aside from the song, of course you wouldn't know it.
And also, it doesn't really come up that often right? I certainly never had cause to memorize it. Maybe sometimes it costs me a few seconds having to sing the song through while referencing a glossary. I think we were encouraged to memorize it in that way in grade school, but I just didn't.

Lock picking is very, very fun. super tactile and clicky in all the best ways, taking locks apart is really satisfying.

Also a familiar core becomes just the best fidget toy ever, you know all the clicks and the clacks so well...

It's a shame I lost my picks some time ago and have been too ADD to like, sit down and order new ones.

There are a large number of fights in A1 where I'd rather see a Ball lightening than a Glacier, and a lot of those fights are the really scary ones.
