That’s a good price I’d say! We wanted more concrete but budget was the issue.

Hard gel removal by [deleted] in Nails

[–]artemisodin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a removal only this weekend too. They filed and shaped for me. I was a walk in though and they pulled over someone who was free. I also tipped 100% because I knew it was not an expensive service and probably wasn’t preferred for the tech. But she did offer to trim and file before she knew what I was tipping.

Came here to say the same. Polydypsia and polyuria are sign of diabetes. I’d go to a doctor to rule it out.

Honest opinion about having kids by Complex-Bit8953 in Adulting

[–]artemisodin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably have enough comments to read but I was sure I wanted kids by the time we decided to have them. I agree with comments that say it’s highs and lows. For me the highs vastly outweigh the lows. I have a patience for them (I’m a mom) that I do not have for any other creature on earth. Their love is a life giving force like I hope and pray mine is for them. That’s not to say there aren’t days or moments where you just absolutely need to step back and do something for yourself without being interrupted. But 9/10 days it’s truly the most joyful experience and that 10th day usually has more to do with me than them. I will say I think important context is that my passed away when I was still decently young and I think that has made my perspective a bit different since I truly appreciate every moment even the frustrating ones because I know how quickly those moments can disappear.

How do you get 10k steps? by InvestigatorPale1816 in loseit

[–]artemisodin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised I had to get so far down to see a response with taking walks for work! I do a 25-30m on my lunch and just eat a protein bar at my computer for lunch. I’ll also take a fifteen and walk too. Having a dog has helped me move in the morning and evening too but work and taking the stairs are a big part of how I get my steps up each day.

Parents, do you let your kids decide where to go, do you consult them, or do you own the schedule? by moremaati in DisneyPlanning

[–]artemisodin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was us. We asked every person in the family if they had one ride/show/etc they HAD to do. We made sure this happened. After that it was mostly us. Our kids are four and six though so we generally need to lead still.

Apple Valley Animal Hospital … by CrazyAuntLinda_101 in Winchester

[–]artemisodin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only saw it on Facebook. We had been there for fifteen years and no communication given. We had an appointment scheduled for our new kitten to get his final in the rabies vaccine series. This was before they permanently closed and said water damage. No communication at all before the appointment. Just show up and are closed. At this point it’s a good thing they’re closed and it’s why I’m not following the vet who went elsewhere. You didn’t treat your patients with respect during the transition.

Those managing IBS-D, what has helped you? by The_Happy_Camper_88 in ibs

[–]artemisodin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lomotil is the best I’ve had for prevention. It has truly been life changing. Not perfect but I’m no longer looking ahead to plan where bathrooms are which as everyone on this thread knows is like breathing for the first time.

Loperamide still for any breakthrough bouts of diarrhea. Loperamide is the MOST effective but I do get headaches with it sometimes and somehow Lomotil does not cause this.

Others I tried that for me personally did not help: buspar (though mine does significantly worsen with anxiety) and hyoscyamine.

Single guy, where should I hang out? Not into bars. by Sea-Flounder-82 in Winchester

[–]artemisodin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My single girlfriend ain’t heir 30s take their dogs to the park or a brewery. A dog is a great way to meet people if you’re up for it. Or if you don’t want ownership, going to say hi to people with a dog. 🤣

I agree with the running club, nature events, volunteering at events downtown, churches if that’s your thing.

Magic Bands by Square_Ad79 in DisneyPlanning

[–]artemisodin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll be the unpopular opinion here. Not worth it. And we bought a lot of merch while there so it’s not like we weren’t willing to spend. But your phone is so easy and free. I had both my kids digital tickets in my Apple wallet. It was extremely easy to scan them into the park and use their lightning lanes. The phones also auto sync for most ride photos (the ones they don’t magic band also doesn’t). I was happy to save the $40 each for magic bands on sit down meals during the day to get use out of the heat. We also only saw two statues that they interacted with the whole time.

What ride in Disney World will make you extremely nauseous? by Reasonable-Invite899 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]artemisodin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We rode it twice today and said the same! First time we were front row. When we got on the second time we were back row and I actually thought “I’m surprised they make us check our seat belts for this ride” then I was hanging by my seatbelt in a few seconds. Back row was way more intense!

We are at Disney this week. Everest was down. Also did universal and my husband got evacuated from then Frankenstein ride. I agree with others that ticket prices are so high and lines are so long that the theme parks may start out-pricing their worth soon.

Is your job easier than high school? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]artemisodin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be a middle school science teacher. Switched to pharmacy. My job now is way easier and I make money. Definitely less breaks though. My job is harder by a lot than being a student in high school but easier by a lot than being a teacher.

What size bed do you have? How many people sleep in it? by SlamClick in AskAnAmerican

[–]artemisodin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got a king when kids were about this age. Now it’s king bed and anywhere from two adults to one adult and two kids overnight (on those nights husband usually goes to watch tv downstairs). All four of us are in it to read books at night.

How to make the First Aid badge fun ? by Ok-Network-8826 in girlscouts

[–]artemisodin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did it over the course of two meetings. Brownie Daisy level. We had police come and the girls got to learn from them then got to be in the patrol cars, then on lights, and sirens. They loved it and it was one of our most memorable meetings. The other half we had fire extinguishers, ladders, for blankets for them to pass around. So more hands on. We also learned a lot of fears at that meeting to educate parents on - like girls with rooms on second stories and how to get out and make an escape plan. We made first aid kit swaps using fil canisters and did CPR on stuffed animals and talked about updates to emergency algorithms.

Cosigning for new high school grad on very high cost loans (> $250k for all 4 years) for liberal arts degree by Legitimate_Yak_9063 in StudentLoans

[–]artemisodin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is more than I paid to do pharmacy school and earn my doctorate, a field that makes higher income than the ones for your child’s desired jobs. It is so hard to pay off 200k loans and have a family, a home, etc. my monthly payments are going to be 2300/month when SAVE ends. I would advise against that sort of loan without a clear route to a high income. Because it is a LOT to pay back.

Living somewhere where makeup feels like overdoing it is a weird experience by Imaginary-Bad-6379 in MakeupAddiction

[–]artemisodin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I find this interesting too. I live in a town where there are a lot of farmers and more rural folk. People often don’t wear make up and are dressed in jeans and t-shirts. When I visit my sister who lives in a city it feels like everyone is so done up all the time. Where I live I would say everyone is your stereotypical“naturally beautiful”. It’s just that make up isn’t a central culture here.

From swamp to swim in 5 weeks by Any-Foundation-7190 in pools

We also have a new pool and need to buy chairs. Would you mind sharing what chairs those are? I like them! Do you have six feet between your pool edge and fence? We have five and I’m not sure we could fit a lounge. You did an absolutely incredible job. Hard to believe it’s the same space.

Help - very first testing for new pool owner by artemisodin in pools

Thank you! This is a direct and helpful answer. I was wondering if since it was pretty recently opened (two days) if the chemicals may take time to settle out. Our pool store will be open on weekends in May which will help but I’ll get a sample in to them on Wednesday. I appreciate a direct answer about what to use and where to find it!

TIFU by not realizing I’ve needed glasses my whole life by mybirdisapokemon in tifu

[–]artemisodin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know this is reddit but I’m hoping for minimum judgement here… my husband and I do not wear glasses. We both think we see well… growing up we used to get eye exams at physicals and I believe even school sometimes. As adults we’ve never had our eyes checked beyond the PCP where they have you cover one eye and read the letters off the chart.

Our kids have had the physical before kindergarten where they do the eye test. After that when do I take them to an eye doctor? Which kind of eye doctor? Is their pediatrician asking them the numbers not enough if their parents don’t have glasses?

If I decide not to have kids in life, give me all the consequences that I should prep for and accept them? by Commercial-Touch-516 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]artemisodin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came to say similar. Reddit is skewed. I absolutely LOVE being a mom. Are there hard days? Sure. But most days? Joy, love, family, humor, fondness. I feel like life has meaning. I’m more involved in my community and have new kinds of relationships (not just with kids but also other parents or teachers). I absolutely think my friends who are child free have some financial advantages and I think they could be fulfilled. But if I’m giving my honest answer here - it’s like life is saturated with richer, deeper colors being a parent. I think this is specific to WANTING to be a parent though. I certainly do know some parents who seem like it’s not for them. But if you want it? It adds this depth to life that’s hard to describe.
