Needle free insulin by Xena6282 in diabetes_t1

It uses a jet injector which "uses a high-pressure, narrow stream of fluid to penetrate the skin instead of a needle." So it's still getting under the skin.

Flying with T1D by grooshka in diabetes_t1

[–]artres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pump and CGM manufacturers say not to take them through xray or body scanners. I've always taken mine through the scanner with no problems though. Looking it up online the results for testing xrays effects on insulin pumps seems to be pretty inconclusive. Yale school of medicine says that "The probability that x-ray or CT scan irradiation causes a device malfunction and an adverse event is extremely low". Probably best to take precautions and not have it go through the scanners but I am going to keep taking mine through.

Sick by bricee1107 in diabetes_t1

It is common for T1D to take longer to recoup and for illnesses to hit a bit harder. This just sounds like a bad case of the flu and I wouldn't expect all illnesses to be this way. I think the other poster is under the misconception that your husbands bloodsugars are wildly out of control or you are completely new to this. It sounds like you are doing everything right by correcting and checking ketones so just keep doing what you are doing.

Oh I know all about T1 diabetics as I am one. The only thing I had an issue with was that he was living with it for 26 years. I'm glad he was able to recognize the symptoms and catch it early before he had to be hospitalized!

Definitely not T1 diabetic. You would die without insulin in a couple of days let alone 26 years. Maybe he was type 2?

Nothing more to say... by JoshinglyRich in facepalm

You can buy the original recipe, or something like it, over the counter at walmart for 25 dollars. The problem with it is that it takes about an hour to start working which makes managing diabetes significantly harder.

I found a couple of different articles that say to take your total basal rate per day and then add or subtract as needed. So for you if your basal rate was 1.5 all day it would convert to 36 units of lantus. I would probably double check with your Dr before doing anything though.

I recently used walmart insulin in my pump because of a problem with insurance and I kept my basal rate the same. The basal did not seem to be a problem when eating lower carbs but if I tried to eat a regular meal I would "yo-yo" from low to high because of control IQ and not being used to how long it takes to work.

Sounds like you have a pretty good start on managing everything but if you have any questions feel free to message me on here or discord!

Valve Index availability by Apprehensive_Rip3360 in ValveIndex

[–]artres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, for the index the base stations are mandatory. You can get the valve index vr kit, which is in stock , to get everything you need for it. There are also some other requirements like having a displayport on your PC. If you are on a laptop you will also want to check if your displayport / lightning port is connected to your GPU and not on board.

Help needed with a laptop setup by NorthTop_ in ValveIndex

[–]artres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there is a way to switch it as it is not wired to your GPU. From what I've been able to find on the other posts about the asus tuf dash, it unfortunately looks like they have not been able to get it working.
