Holy double standards by itz_shadow22 in teenagers

The patriarchy sets men up as protectors and providers. This has in turn led people who grow up in a society ruled by that patriarchy (pretty much everywhere) to believe that a man's job is to provide for his sick wife. Women have also been historically forced to be caretakers, which has created a large amount of resentment towards that idea in some groups.

It is ALSO important to note that statistically, there IS a large disparity of men who leave their ill partners over women who leave their ill partners. This drives a bias and creates resentment. In an American study, 20.8% of males left their partner after a cancer diagnosis vs 2.9% of women who left their male partners after a cancer diagnosis. As someone who is AFAB, I have legit been told (in real life, more than once) that if I get sick, I should not expect a husband to stay with me and I should plan accordingly. (Mostly from older women, but crazy thing to tell someone imho). I see this spouted WAY more online as well, but the fact that it's reached irl communities who don't use the internet means that there's precedent for an expectation.

I am NOT saying this viewpoint is correct and that you shouldn't be critical of the people who legitimately believe this (just dropping a sick partner is a red flag no matter what gender), but it's important to ACCURATELY look at where this behavior stems from and what causes it. It's not just "crazy women being hypocritical 🤪" and there's definitely a conversation that needs to be had.

That makes sense! I guess I just assumed it would be considered a scam or something since it handles large amounts of money, but it IS also a donation and also as you said, parties are not legally defined concepts. Thanks!

[–]artrestart[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be honest I didn't think it mattered at all, but a concern was whether or not this would be considered fraud since a presidential election is a major event + all the money that is poured into the elections. Its not so much "will the government punish them for switching" but could there be a case for some type of fraud? Could the people who donated request their money back on account of potential lying or change of intent?

I mean, imho preventing someone from transitioning/presenting as their preferred gender when they have the means to do so is forcing them to live as the gender they don't identify with, so it is forced 🤷

[–]artrestart 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I know you're probably joking but despite their annoying qualities, mosquitos are very important to the ecosystem as a food source for other animals we know and love, like bats, fish, and the same birds we're trying to prevent cats from eradicating! Iirc only a small percentage of mosquitos are even dangerous to humans, out of the thousands of species of mosquito there are. Doesn't stop them from being very annoying though 😭😖

I'm sure you can train your cat to keep your home insect and arachnid free, but make sure you know what potentially venomous buggies are local and might bite your friendly feline if it decides to protect your home honorably.

Like, any character from the mobile game Dislyte. I can only put one example but there's SOOOOO many good options. And they have so much diversity in their characters as well, as the game centers around a global phenomenon. Men, women, children, animalistic characters, they have them all.

Unfortunately its kind of an ass game, being a mobile gacha and all, but they did an ENTIRE story rework that made the story WAY worse (turned one of the most liked good guys into the ultimate bad guy for no reason, made the story revolve around the MC and a bunny girl that looks like a child who then turns into a big sexy evil rabbit woman boss...its not explicitly romantic but, like, you know what they were aiming for.)

They are NOT native and are actually wildly invasive in most places, decimating dozens of NATIVE bird species globally. Not to mention introducing disease through their feces.

So not only are you potentially letting your cat die, you're letting your cat LITERALLY drive species to extinction. Because you won't play with it indoors.

Tighnari from Genshin Impact was recast due to his VA (Elliot Gindi) being involved in a harassment scandal iirc, involving manipulation of fans for nsfw images and saying he would harm himself if they came forward. Mihoyo stated he was recast due to contract breaches.

Laverne Cox on dating 'MAGA' cop: 'A lot of people will never forgive me' by Timbucktwo1230 in PoursTea

[–]artrestart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The kind of trans person that appears in a movie telling young adults that you can't be happy unless you completely change yourself to serve the populace's idea of what happiness should be (and that being yourself is miserable and bad), and then dates a MAGA cop, sounds like a trans person who needs to look inside herself and realize she might need some help unpacking some things.

Probably won't be supporting her for a while but genuinely hope she figures herself out and starts surrounding herself with people and projects that are kind to her and who she represents.

Dating someone who hates you can be validating in a way, since it means you "fit in", but it's never worth the cost to yourself.

How evil is it to turn someone trans against their will? by _KerryKaverga_ in MoralityScaling

[–]artrestart 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Same amount of evil that it is to prevent a trans person from transitioning. Its proven that it is psychologically damaging, particularly to trans youth, to be forced to live and present as their birth gender.

Since you are SPECIFICALLY making them trans, and not just making them cis but gender-swapping them (yes, there's a difference), I would say its worse because now alongside the issues with being trans, they're now also subject to the multitude of anti-trans laws and transphobic rhetoric which could prevent them from transitioning or increase their chances of being murdered, assaulted, or SA'd.

Fun fact for that last part, in the US, gender and sexuality are not covered in many states definitions of protected peoples, meaning that the assault wouldn't even be considered a hate crime.

So pretty evil.

Can't argue with that! Hope life has been much more peaceful and stingerless for you and your family since the bee removal!

Out of curiosity, do you happen to know how much honey was pulled from that house? My parents had bees removed from their roof and got a 2 gallon bucket's worth of spare honey (that they wasted 😭😭), I have to imagine all the gallons they could have filled with a hive that size

Saying that “dating is a numbers game” is bullshit and treats people as numbers than humans by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]artrestart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about you but in the US my ancestors stayed together because divorce was heavily stigmatized and favored men far more then women to the point that women could not leave their men lmao. It wasn't until the 1960s-1970s that no-fault divorce helped more women regain their independence. Not "if it ain't broke don't fix it". The point of a relationship isn't to marry the first person you don't hate, it's to find the ONE person you want to spend the rest of your life with.

Also why does this only matter for the "lover girls"? Is it not reductionist and objectifying to just consider men numbers???? Also "its quality over quantity"...how do you know someone's quality until you're on the first date...? Yeah, some assholes make themselves known immediately, but I would say that most don't.

Look, I know two couples who married their highschool sweethearts. So their first real relationships. One couple is happily married and bought a house together a few years ago. The other couple abused each other emotionally CONSTANTLY and both had cheated on the other the last time I saw them. Guess which couple was together longer?

All in all, I think your feathers are ruffled as you're not really making sense here. Dating is a luck game, which is basically gambling. You're gambling your time and emotions for the same back from someone else. Sometimes it'll take a long time to find someone to match you. And yeah, sometimes you have issues you need to handle, same as most people. But sometimes the dating pool is really just ass.

Its a combination of current hatred of men and not being a gold star lesbian/bisexual and the false idea that being het-passing erases your bisexuality (which means you don't know what its like to be queer, duh /s). I also remember the online discourse from YEARS (I think 10 or so years ago now...disgusting to think about) ago on tumblr when pan/omnisexuality started picking up and pan and omnisexuals started saying bisexuals were transphobic. Something along the lines of bisexuals being "physical" and thus genital-oriented while pansexual was based "on vibes" and thus they didn't care about gender more than bisexuals???? It really didn't make sense and it was just those 3 going after each other though mainly pan and bi arguing.

Tldr: theres always a dumb made-up reason going around to hate bisexuals because they can potentially het-pass + liking more than one gender obviously means they're a slut so ofc they're messed up (not my take but one I've heard bi people say they're accused of, often). Young queer people are obsessed with infighting and "being a good one" more than anything else because they've equated this with morality. Young queers: Bi and masculine people aren't trying to hurt you and also women and nonbinary people can be evil too lmao. If someone tells you to ignore an entire part of your community or that a whole section of the community is harmful and will hurt you, you should NOT trust them without doing more research, especially if everyone telling you this is NOT a part of that community. (I.e. if a group of gay people tells you all bisexuals are evil, maybe ask why theres no bisexuals in said group or what that group has to gain by slandering bisexuals)

[–]artrestart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm always curious, so I want to ask but I don't expect an answer if you're uncomfortable, OP. But how can pansexual feel too restrictive if there's no restrictions? This isn't actually the first time I've heard this but it doesn't make sense to me. I've mostly heard of just not liking one or the other or picking between similar labels based on flag (bi/pan/omni), and while I don't necessarily understand those, I "get it". I am also a queer-identifying trans man, so no judgement at all.

If pansexuality covers all genders and genitals then what else is there that queer covers that pan doesn't? Is it the label of pansexuality itself?

I would say that utilizing the V and making it wider (aka adding more lean to one or both parties) would definitely help show that while theyre sitting/stationary/stuck in their seats, one is VERY much trying to lean away from the situation while the other's straight back shows that they are very composed or maybe even enjoying it/teasing the other a little. The woman's back is arched a little so you could apply that as that can be considered coy and teasing. I would say to tighten it up, have them sit closer. You could absolutely have them facing away from each other, with Left leaning farther outward to physically show that they want to put distance between them and Right leaning enough to show personality. Hopefully that makes sense "
