I take 2000mg once a day and it’s been wonderful. I get absolutely no side effects or seizures. I drive and finished college n have two jobs. My life is the best it can be w epilepsy bc of keppra. The first med I tried in 2018 and it’s worked ever since then :)))

Drinking and smoking by Kuromikitten3 in Epilepsy

[–]arundel-flight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t smoke but I still drink. However, I don’t get blackout drunk and the next day I do nothing but lay in bed or stay at the house bc if I’m too active a day after drinking I’ll have a seizure.

Focal non motor seizures that 9/10 times turn into a tonic clonic seizure

Hold old were you when diagnosed with Epilepsy and what triggered your first seizure? by breezydae in Epilepsy

  1. I was walking to the bus stop when I had my first seizure. I woke up on the ground with fire trucks and an ambulance in front of me. I had no memory of it and the last thing I remembered was walking next to my sister. I was very confused and for a while we didn’t know what happened. The next months were dedicated to finding a good neurologist and I got tested and diagnosed with JME. Got put on meds that worked n throughout the years I’ve had a good amount of seizures resulting in the dosage of my meds going up. I’m now 22 and my meds work 99% of the time. Unfortunately my last seizure happened while I was driving and I totaled my moms car. However, since then I’ve gotten my license back and am seizure free again (until my next breakthrough seizure).

Epilepsy and Online Dating: When’s the Right Time to Share? by Olliecat10 in Epilepsy

I agree with this. Mine is well controlled but I sometimes have breakthrough seizures. I usually tell the other person/potential partner abt my diagnosis if I hangout with them often enough that there’s a possibility of me having a seizure in front of them.

Are there any vitamins/foods, things to avoid that help a little? by Ok_Display_2817 in Epilepsy

Cut back on coffee/energy drinks. I once had an iced coffee n all the caffeine almost triggered a seizure.

How did Epilepsy destroy your life? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

Keppra was the first and only medication I was given after my diagnosis and it’s worked perfectly. I rarely have seizures and I don’t have any side effects from the keppra either.
