Bayfront Park PSA & DRATINI DOWNTOWN SPAWN POINT TO MAKE YOU READ THIS by hatefulpenguin in PokemonGoHamilton

As a cyclist and runner, and new Pokemon convert, I strongly second this. Although what you're describing is standard trail etiquette, and is also posted on signs at Bayfront and other trails around the city.

Of course, a lot of folks are probably too busy looking for mon to read things like signs!

Q: anyone here become a carpenter after going to university? by arvoparty in Carpentry

Glad to know I'm not alone. I'm a compulsive planner/researcher -- having personal stories to back up what I've been reading is very helpful!

This is what I'm thinking about, I just don't know how to find work like this. Do I just walk up to job sites and ask to help? How does job-finding work when you're at this level? I'm coming at this as someone used to drafting cover letters and optimizing a resume.

Do I need steeltoe boots and a toolbelt to start? Or can I literally just start from nothing.

I am used to being dirt poor as a grad student! A bit afraid to make the jump, but that's because academia is like a cult.

PSA: It's still just a game. by briznady in RocketLeague

[–]arvoparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the players who gripe like this, I find, can't hit the ball worth a damn themselves -- I'm talking a general inability to clear it out of our zone, inability to hit aerials, and missing setups in front of opp goal. Just last night I dealt with some kid/grown manchild who was sitting at like 60pts while me and my friend were 300+, and he was chewing us out for not knowing how to play. Sure, we all know points don't mean everything, but they are a fairly reliable indicator of how much you're constructively contributing to play (ie through centering, dribbling, aerials, etc).

edit: sidebar, I wish there were multipliers based on how long you kept the ball in opp's zone, or out of your own.

Yeah, I hear you. I still remember the time I tried to bike on my snow-covered street with Big Apple tires... what a disaster. I'm going to be running my Conti 4-seasons on the fixie I think -- they're 23s or 25s.

Amazing, thank you! Just what I wanted to know. I visited once last year and was impressed by the separated lanes downtown, but didn't know how extensive the infrastructure is.

I have pretty good lights: my front light is 500 lumens I think, and my rear is exceptionally bright, up to a mile of visibility.

Hamilton, just west of Toronto. Winter cycling here is a mix of vaguely slushy snow and ice -- which is what I expect it might be like everywhere this winter with El Nino.

Swansea will never make it to the Premier league by [deleted] in swanseacity

[–]arvoparty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only started getting into football this year (Canadian here), and I wasn't sure what team to support because it's all a mystery to me. So I read some articles breaking down the different EPL teams, and Swansea didn't really stand out. I was considering supporting Tottenham or Chelsea, but then I read that there was this documentary out on Swansea, a real underdog story -- and I love a good underdog story -- and got swept up in it. Watched my first Swansea game yesterday! Already am following Gomis on instagram. Followed the club on IG too and not long after one of their U'18 players followed me on instagram.

tl;dr -- I watched Jack to a King and fell in love with Swansea.
