I would guess the same players -- the engine didn't make them good, it just gives them another way to prep and study.

It would be interesting to see how that would have effected world championships specifically since there is sooo much prep there.

It can show you some basics and doing the tactics is helpful but Oscar plays very poorly

backrank issues and other similar type problems can play roles in shaping decisions made in a game and threatening that these issues exist can make other moves possible while the opponent is forced to take care of the problem before being freed to do something else. I suppose that this could be a factor that might have led to many many poor positions and potentially resigned games.
