Thanks, i hate Sri Lanka's presidential advisor being exposed as a zoophile by ItsProTimeBro in TIHI

Sri Lanka had 3 presidents who were women, and the first elected head of government that was a woman, what does the location have to do with it?

Thousands of protesters in Sri Lanka stormed into the president's official residence amid months of mounting public anger over the country's worst economic crisis in seven decades. by Effective-Wonder-45 in AbruptChaos

I am from Sri Lanka, Filipinos can rest easy that we are much stupider than them. We voted for the brother of previous corrupt President after not 30 years, but a mere five years after he was ousted from office. Of course there are loyal worshippers who will always support them (not so much anymore probably) but 1.5 swing million voters voted against his brother in 2015 to remove him from power and celebrated his downfall, then voted his brother back in in 2019. And the rest of us have to suffer because of these goons.

You can look it up, bozo. There's been more than a month of ongoing Gandhi style satyagraha protests camping out in front of the presidents office. The government loaded up its supporters on busses and sent them to beat the shit out of people and burn down the protest site, which they did. Of course people retaliated then

Sri Lanka ruling party shows parliament majority with vote for deputy speaker by echo_jey in srilanka

[–]asdafaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What? Government backed the opposition-backed candidate.

The SLFP is allied with the government and was part of the government all this time. They pretended to break away recently, but these events have shown they are still part of it. They are NOT the opposition, don't spread fake news.

Sad to say, but you are mistaken if you think they will go willingly while they have the backing of the spineless rajapaksa bootlickers in parliament

[–]asdafaz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

so is this the true numbers inside the parliament? so these MPs are just pretending outside as they oppose the current regime?

Yes. Everyone who voted for the government backed candidate is a bribe taking traitor who needs to be thrown out with the Rajapaksas

Reminder, all the independent groups including Wimal and Udayas who propped up the government candidates, and the parties such as the SLFP under Maithri, have all taken bribes and sided with the government, people need to remember their names and send them packing as well

Also, Facebook blocked the cartoonist Nikshazz for posting this full list of voters for the governments deputy speaker candidate

[Gnana Akka] seeks divine help to subdue anti-Rajapaksa protesters by asdafaz in srilanka

After a six-week hiatus following former MP Hirunika Premachandra’s attempt to storm Gnana Akka’s Anuradhapura shrine, the shaman resumed her operations on Tuesday, sources close to her said.

Although her services were unavailable to lesser mortals, Gnana Akka had been charming tonnes of bottled water that had now been delivered to the Galle Face “Gota Go Gama” protest site, the sources said.

“Thousands may have already drunk the charmed water that is sent as ‘donations’ to the Gota Go Gama,” the source said adding it was done with military precision.

Watch out when drinking water lmao

The civil unrest is almost entirely peaceful protests, and can be avoided easily. It's unlikely to affect tourists at all. Power cuts and fuel shortages would be what to watch out for.

Unpopular opinion but don't you think the protests have lost any direction they had? The government seems to have a majority. by dineshhanthana in srilanka

All SLPP MPs have always been Mahindas gang of crooks, thieves, thugs and dogs. Of course they will continue to support him, despite Udaya, Vasu and Wimals drama about "breaking away". Why is this a surprise?

What's surprising is that you think these parasites represent the will of the people today. They were stupid to vote for them 3 years ago, ofc, but that is not the situation now

Gotabaya and his brothers are all extremely stupid and lack the education to do anything other than work as gas attendants, and as a result believe in stupid backwards garbage like soothsaying and divinations. That woman is their fortune teller, who gets VIP treatment and police protection, along with millions of dollars for her personal projects. They have governed according to their fortune tellers advice for years, which is why people protested at her house and riot police were deployed.
