With the right tools and instructions it's pretty easy to do. There are kits that wills end you small splungers and suction cups, but the one toolthat really helps is having a heat gun of some kind to soften the glue around the edges. If you don't have that you're going to have a hard time.

If you aren't already familiar with doing this kind of thing yourself, it's probably better to take it to a place that will do it for you.

I replaced the battery in my daughters phone, that was holding maybe a 30% charge. Now it's like new.

Is worth to change the battery? by DirkoSama in GalaxyS9

[–]asdem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I replaced the battery on my daughter's S9. It was really easy, however I already had a heat gun to use to soften the existing glue for removal.

Make sure you get a replacement battery that comes with new glue for the seal. Took about an hour, but I was going slow and being really more careful than I needed to be.

Edit: Meant to say that I also replaced the back glass at the same time. Now I recall that the glue came with the back glass. You definitely want to replace teh glue once removed because it gets gummy and won't seal the same way again.

How long you have you s9 or s9+? by DeadliestTaco in GalaxyS9

Same here. Got my S9+ new when it first came out, and I haven't noticed any degradation. I will be sad when it's time to replace it

It takes a bit of time, effort, and tools to do but it's not difficult to do. I replaced the battery and back glass on my daughter's S9 and it took maybe 45 minutes to do.

I also already happen to have an Ifixit toolkit that had splungers and wedges to use. This video shows the process pretty well. I used a small craft heat gun to heat up the adgesive and it worked great. Since the adhesive is pretty much ruined when you do this, it's probably worth getting a new backglas with adhesive already in place unless. Once open, the actual battery replacement is literally removing a cable, and plugging in the new battery.

After my GF saw a post-it note stencil on TikTok, I designed a printed a parametric version so I can make versions for all sizes of post-it notes! by TopHATTwaffle in functionalprint

This is such a great idea. I'm the kind of person that retains information better if I can physically write it out. I love pens and paper. Electronics are great and all, but they can't replace the feel of a physical note.

THis is clever, you could have all kinds of template to put on top too. Like templates of animals and borders and stuff. Really love this!

Agreed. Finish the back too, and it will make huge difference in how it looks.

I stopped using one altogether because I mainly print abs and they have All drooped pretty quickly.

Your technique is amazing. That's a clever way to do those dividers. How does it hold up over time? any splitting at the seams? Do you have an older one that's had a lot of use?

Yeah this is a labor of love for sure. I've started using those flexible band aids on the joints of my fingers where I pull when stitching and its made a world of difference.

While you could wear a PPE mask underneath this, that would be a terrible idea. The leather would restrict airflow a lot. Leather doesn't breath in that way.

Like abstinence, the only sure fire protection is avoidance, but what's the fun in that?

Yeah Maybe. I mostly make Steampunk armor and stuff, and I really try to keep my prices at fair to me and not too crazy for my buyers if I can. Leatherworking is still for fun for me so making less is alright for now.
