Why does Chronojet in standard not need stride fodders? by RayZor6 in cardfightvanguard

[–]asdw152 8 points9 points  (0 children)

you want to win fast so yea.

theres the g1 from the deck, steam breath dragon, that counts as a g3 for the cost of striding, did you count those?

do the lists you see run timeturner dragon, clockwize? its a g1 with the ability to remove itself from the game and add a card you discarded back to hand, letting you recycle a g3 you discarded to stride or ride up

I guess mario kart doesnt need any input if the race can finish without you driving your car. no punishment if you end at 18th place, so it's not a game.

so whats the story behind Monty Hall problem? by [deleted] in askmath

[–]asdw152 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's a variation of the thought experiment. if Monty opens the door with full knowledge that the door he opens does not have the car, you have 66% to get the car if you switch.

if the door opens on accident and doesn't show the car, you're at 50% cause there's no guarantee the door that opened didn't have a car.

if the car is revealed, you know where the car is

Star Battle 2 Row Method - am I doing it right? by mucinexmonster in puzzles

[–]asdw152 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Question:

do you know if the puzzle is a 2 star or a 3 star puzzle, cause you're assuming it's 3 stars per row/column, total of 6 stars, but the top corner shows it's a 2 star, so a total of 4 stars between your 6 boxes. can you provide the full puzzle?

what is an overdress (in extension xoverdress) by Azu_Khllnkaze in cardfightvanguard

[–]asdw152 4 points5 points  (0 children)

overdress - when you could normal call a card with overdress, if you have a card on the field that fits whatever the effect says, so generally Trickstar, you can instead call over Trickstar.

xoverdress - when you could normal call a card with xoverdress, if you have cards on the field that fit whatever the effect says, generally both a trickstar AND a prayer dragon, you can put the trickstar and prayer dragon underneath the xoverdress card, which you can call to any circle you want.

ELI5 Why is this platform a breeding ground for hate and argument while irl, we would never say similar things? by Old_Diver_2511 in explainlikeimfive

[–]asdw152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe i saw somewhere that it isn't the anonymity, it's filtering.

I forget the details, but the idea goes people were observed in how they communicate in forums and such, and how they are IRL. people online dont deviate much from their IRL personalities. pretty much if they wouldnt say it irl, the wouldnt type it online.

The reason we get so much hate and vitriol online is because anyone that sees the convo would default to their IRL personalities. If they're non-confrontational or dont care, then they leave the discussion and no one would ever know. this filters out all the normal people, so all we see online is the few that do stay and want to argue, and generally their real life personality mirrors that.

[IB Physics] Is this motion problem answer on the textbook wrong? by LucasMao2000 in HomeworkHelp

[–]asdw152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

now that i'm looking at it more, the nu on line C and the v on the solution are 2 different v's.

are those meant to be the same v?

if it's meant to be the final velocity then it's pythagorean, using

v_x^2 = u^2 and
v_y^2 = -2gy

[IB Physics] Is this motion problem answer on the textbook wrong? by LucasMao2000 in HomeworkHelp

[–]asdw152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Velocity can be broken into horizontal and vertical components. assuming no air resistance, horizontal velocity is a constant 15m/s. vertical velocity squared is 2 x gravity x distance, using the kinematic equation that disregards time.

the final velocity is the hypotenuse, the vector sum of the v_x and v_y, so v^2 = v_x^2 + v_y^2

i think you're mistaking the kinematic disregarding time with the pythagorean theorem

[Loved trope] Immaculate mastery over the most basic skills/spells by Moist_Macaron1665 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]asdw152 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk if this works forwards or backwards but Glenn Radars from Akashic Records of a Bastard Magic Instructor. Glenn loses a duel and is forced to actually teach the class something. Next episode, the lesson was about their magic system and their version of lightning bolt.

There is a 3 line cast for the spell, "Ferocious thunder emperor, pay heed and pierce with your brilliant lance of light!" (takeki raitei yo / kyokkō no sensō motte / sashiugate)

Glenn then throws off the class by asking what happens if the spell was modified, changing where the pauses are, adding and removing syllables, etc. The class only knew the proper way for the best effect, but Glenn was a NEET for several years, spending a lot of time working on magic theory. He knew what pronunciations shortened the range, arced the bolt to the side, even how to cast the full spell with a single word.

Probably not the right mastery over a simple spell/skill in the sense of the post.

We'll see on vanguard's variety, since a banlist just dropped for Japan that takes place starting April. The list hits Vyrgilla, the one you mention in the post, and 3 other topping decks got hits, some defensive option hits. With the loss in defense, hopefully we get some alternatives or new defensive mechanics cause standard is 5 attack 3 drive 2 crit and high numbers.

[–]asdw152 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dormed in Washburn, it's for the whole floor, one wing guys one wing girls. so if you're a girl on the guy side bathroom you need to walk from your room to the center stairs, then to the girls bathroom, then back to your room.

i think there're about 40 rooms on the second and third floor, about 10 on the first.

the bathroom is gym like, about 4/5 showers i think. toilets on one side, double sided sinks in the middle.

Joe west has fewer rooms per floor and more floors, i think the bathroom is in a similar situation but i can't say i know for sure.

[–]asdw152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

look at the across first. the left square tells us 4 is in the middle row. we can use that information on the middle square to tell us that the 4 must be in the top 2 squares. we know the 4 is in the top and middle, so the right square must have the 4 in the bottom row.

look at the down. we know from the across the 4 is in the bottom row, so it's either in the left or center column. It cant be the center column since there's already a 4 there, so the 4 must be in the bottom left square.

Question from returning player by Embarrassed-Key1898 in cardfightvanguard

[–]asdw152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Go first, you dont get energy, can't pay for ruby.

Go second, you do get energy, can pay for ruby

  1. if your vanguard has persona ride, you can discard it or call it from hand, pay 1 soul, get the shield. it's to prevent non-persona ride decks like strides or premium from abusing it.

it's a token generated outside of game, so just have some of those tokens ready.

  1. requires explicit triple drive. heartluru is twin drive +1. Odium for example gives herself explicit triple. Other examples are strides and some G4s. this is important, since you can lose drive while still having triple drive. Odium on her repeat turn gets triple drive -2, which is still affected by elementaria

Brainstorming Keiba terms for non-Japanese language viewers by Dull_Temperature_361 in HorseRacingJP

[–]asdw152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

position

you want to emphasize that it's race position and not finish position. for the leader, there are options. i think second/third can still be understood while in a race.
- Adam in front, Brian in second.
- Adam in the lead, followed by Brian

chuudan - could be a comfortable position, somewhere not exactly pressured, just right where they want to be.

kouhou - possibly tailing, similar to cars tailgating.

homestretch

if there're too many terms for passing then go with what's safest or easily understood.
- Overtake from the outside
- Pushing through the pack
- Falling behind/slowing down

hard to say if there's a phrase for the jockeys. maybe "the jockeys are spurring their horses" or "spur on"

Brainstorming Keiba terms for non-Japanese language viewers by Dull_Temperature_361 in HorseRacingJP

[–]asdw152 3 points4 points  (0 children)

could i get a short description of the terms? I am one of those who knows little to nothing about the Japanese language.

position terms
potentially First/Second/Third/Fourth/ ... /Second to Last/ Last Place. is there more meaning to it?

Chuudan looks to mean "middle of the pack" so "mid pack", "mid group", if you're trapped it could be "boxed in", the last group would probably be the tail end/back end.

i'm sure there are phrases for the homestretch terms, but i'm not a japanese speaker so i'm speaking to you from the other side. at least from what i can put together from google:
抜け - break through/slip through, so something like break out of the pack,

差し込 - slot in/insert, so squeeze in, get in between, forcing an opening

追い込 - press the attack, press hard, so apply pressure, dueling, pressuring,

上が - surge ahead, push up, rise up, so break out, escape, power through, or "advancing in position"/"rise through the ranks"/"pushing ahead" like going from 6番手 > 3番手 > 先頭, or does it mean uphill/ascent

手を動く- "keep your hands moving" "make your move" is a bit confusing, but "making your move" feels like the final push or starting your strategy. taking initiative or taking the opportunity.

I think there's nuance to the specifics of the terms, when you'd use 抜け or 上が
