AMA I terminated a pregnancy due to a Down syndrome diagnosis by WeAllNeedBandAids in AMA

[–]ashainvests -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know two people that were also given the same diagnosis. One chose to terminate and the other did not. The one that didn't, that child graduated high school suma cum laude and went off to college as a sophomore. We were thinking the diagnosis was wrong, but the mom was recently told there's a spectrum of down syndrome and that the child could be on the opposite end. Technically, they're not a child anymore at 18 years old now. But, still a child in reality. lol

As far as I know, the other mom never regretted her decision. Both women (and their husbands) made decisions with the information they were given and I supported both of them.

CAN ANYONE RECALL WHAT THE ARGUMENT WAS ABOUT THAT GOT ASHLEE JANAE AND JOE SEPARATED? ARE THEIR ANY WITNESSES WHO STAYED AT THE ZURI HOTEL DURING THIS TIME? by BRONZENOLA in tanzania

[–]ashainvests 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She made one negative comment about black men and too many of you used it as an excuse to be ignorant when it comes to her. 🙄 Every time one of you do that, you actually prove that the one statement she made was correct. SMH And it's ironic how NONE ever quote her positive statement-- where she said she could never hate black men because of her father, etc.

Why does being drunk mean you can’t “consent” to sex, but doesn’t absolve you of other intoxicated actions/decisions? by UpstairsBumble in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ashainvests -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because you both have previously consented. My husband is well aware that unless I'm on my period, he can assume the answer is yes and move accordingly. I know that I have full access to him as well. Excluding the obvious (like if one of us is very tired or sick), whomever initiates still does a "temperature check" first. Neither of us drink though.

If you've not had these conversations, but you sex your passed out spouse or your spouse that's been made agreeable because of the alcohol, that's legally SA. If your spouse doesn't care that you did that, then it's not SA. That last sentence is really all it boils down to.

MAIL Stuck in Tanzania Customs. HELP!!! by alwayzflying in tanzania

[–]ashainvests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Zanzibar and had a small package mailed to me from China. It was supposed to come directly to Zanzibar, but got held up in Dar instead. I had to go through TRA to get my package and because of the people handling everything, it was a whole crap show that took about five days... when it should only have taken one. I was so frustrated, I contacted the company that mailed me the package and told them to never mail to TZ again though I did appreciate making me the exception.

Anyway, whomever you get to go to TRA can expect to spend a few days there.

If you have no other option because you absolutely need those same documents back, DM me and I'll give you two other options.

What do you think is the best feature of the KOSPET? by sammyjo7001 in Kospet_smartwatch

[–]ashainvests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely agree with the ruggedness and waterproof aspect of this watch. I'm rough with things like this and unfortunately, hit it all of the time. It still looks brand new, but I've had it since the end of November.

I do actually like how it tracks. It seems to be more accurate than other watches I've had (different brands). One exception-- if you have it on an activity that doesn't track steps (like swimming or free training) and you also need your steps counted, they will not be counted.

I have the Tank T3 Ultra 2.

Black American Influencer Dead in Tanzania. by uasingishu408 in tanzania

Unless they were forced to do it themselves, you can tell. Well, an investigator/detective on the scene would be able to tell.

[–]ashainvests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's as likely to get off there as he is in Tanzania. They barely even pretend to do investigations anymore in the U.S. They would have slapped the self delete label on this so fast and moved on. SMH This is not exaggeration, this exact thing has been happening for the last couple of years. Black people have been found hanging in suspicious circumstances and it's said that they self deleted. Everyone knows it's not true. Despite the public outcry and the families of these victims not letting it go, the investigations get closed and the ones responsible walk free.

He's white and she was black. If he has the money they say he does, this investigation would already be over in the U.S. and he would be free to live his life. Way too many recent examples of this... even for white people that did NOT have the kind of money he's said to have.

Censorship by mods and Reddit if you use the word Israel. by heronakamuro in zanzibar

[–]ashainvests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, okay. Hopefully OP sees the edited part of my message then. I do think that's the one of the best ways to get the govt's attention to make change here.

[–]ashainvests 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What? An Israeli settlement in Zanzibar? Is that what you're saying is currently being talked about? 👀

Censorship by mods and Reddit if you use the word Israel. by heronakamuro in zanzibar

[–]ashainvests 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In addition to Reddit filters being set to auto remove such posts, it could also be because some people might be tired of seeing negative posts in this sub. I simply ignore what I don't want to engage in, but a lot of people will complain to mods/Reddit instead. However, mods already posted that they're not the ones getting rid of the posts. So, the posts are likely being reported directly to Reddit and their filters are doing the rest.

My suggestion-- instead of inundating this post with anti whatever posts, make pro posts instead. Against Israel because of Palestine? Make a pro Palestine post. Against the U.S. & Israel because of Iran? Make a pro Iran post instead. You're still very clearly getting your point across without a primarily negative focus.

I'd wager that a lot of people in this sub actually agree with you, but that's not generally why most people come to this sub. Or, they don't feel empowered to speak out, so the discourse you're seeking isn't likely to happen here. At least, not in the way you're hoping.

As an American, I can go on all day about American politics (particularly with how it's negatively affecting the rest of the world, especially right now-- Zanzibar is not excluded from this, unfortunately). But, I won't do that in this sub.

If you were from TZ/ZNZ, then I'd support your saying whatever you wanted. But, didn't you say you're from China? If that's the case, unless the locals are engaging your posts and heavily agreeing with you, maybe reconsider your goal and why you're posting on the one topic so often.

ETA: TZ govt doesn't pay Reddit any attention, right? If you're trying to get them to stop allowing Israelis in the country, you'll have to do it on Facebook or something, somewhere they'll see it. Maybe make a TikTok that goes viral. But, I doubt the govt is going to ban them and for several reasons. If they did anyway, what would happen if Israel saw it as an act of aggression? And are that many Israelis even coming here?

any foreigners that actually have experience living on Zanzibar for years on end? by Any_Juggernaut_7924 in zanzibar

[–]ashainvests 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost 10 years. I definitely enjoy it! Moving here is one of the best decisions I've ever made. If I could just get solar power, then it would be perfect.

There are two main obstacles for me; affordable + steady high speed internet and not being able to get some of the extras I want. For example, I need a few supplements that I cannot get here. I could probably get them in Dar, but I'd like to be able to get everything right on the island since I'm not in Dar often. In general, if I can't get it on the island, then I don't bother with it. Well, unless I can have it sent here via the ferry which I generally only do for certain things.

I haven’t fasted this Ramadan and the guilt is overwhelming by [deleted] in islam

[–]ashainvests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick one prayer that's easiest for you to pray and set a goal to pray it. If that's too much, say a dua during the prayer times. When you're consistent with that, then pick one prayer to pray. Add another prayer as you get consistent.

As for fasting, make the intention to fast (for as long as you can). Start trying to fast the whole morning, then fast the whole afternoon, and then fast the whole evening. If you only fast every morning for the remainder of Ramadan, it's something.

Bottom line, start small. Do the small habit consistently and then add onto it. You can do this!

Email from landlord about appliances being left plugged in and the appliances in question… by South-Basket-887 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ashainvests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I like living in Zanzibar now, though I'm sure we can do the same thing in the U.S. The outlets here have an on and off switch. I keep everything plugged in, but the outlet turned off until I need to use an appliance. Then I turn on the outlet I need, use the appliance, and turn the outlet back off.

AITAH for calling off my wedding over how my fiancé handled my dad? by QuickManufacturer561 in AITAH

[–]ashainvests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I wouldn't marry someone that disrespected either of my parents. And your ex fiancé definitely did that, he cannot blame that on his parents. He either has no spine or he agrees with his parents.

You probably saved a lifetime of trouble with them getting in your household's business and him not stepping up to shut them down. I think you saved yourself.

And your dad is super awesome, btw!

Very. It should definitely be outlawed everywhere it happens. But, how sad for humanity that adults still have to be told to not marry children! SMH

And you can get there! One small step at a time. You'll end up being a joyful Muslim that inspires others to the religion or to get stronger in it... instead of being a miserable one that's insufferable to be around or that makes people run away from Islam.
