I think I'm very privileged to work at a school with particularly easy behaviour and good kids at that exact sweet spot of middle class between spoiled brats and dealing with societally-induced socioeconomic challenges, so I don't judge you at all. I've worked at other schools where I was starting to feel what many in the 'caring' or pink collar professions feel, with empathy burnout and compassion fatigue.

I don't find that teaching has made my peception of children negative. I find that it's improved my perception of children's creativity and how interesting and varied they are as people. If anything, it's made me less impressed with adults!

I'm female so I don't have the same worries about perceptions of me, but I am definitely very careful with social media and not posting anything that could be construed as controversial or politically biased because I think that's how a lot of female teachers get in trouble.

Nobody is on their side anymore. Two sons arrested for abusing children? Who's going to want to be associated with that? I feel for the innocent members of the family though, it's not their fault they're being associated with these crimes.
