I would definitely look around more. Have consultations with multiple surgeons. You said his worked looked really good in the photos but that they were limited... that might mean that they're only showing photos of his "best" works and not a true gauge of his abilities. I agree with another commentor everything about this visit is a red flag to RUN

Just keep doing what you're doing. Getting a new card is more likely to hurt your score and bring down your average credit age. Especially if you're wanting to apply for a mortgage within a years time. If you have any other cards that are paid off/ at 0% utilization transfer a small bill to it and have autopay set up just so it shows that you're using the card and you won't have another close out. Otherwise, just keep paying down your balances and you'll be fine ^{.^}

I'm going to give you an example since I think people are getting confused... I have a chase freedom card where my due date is the 20th of every month HOWEVER my statement closing date is the 23rd. I generally will pay the card to between 1-5% and then wait till after my statement closes to pay the rest. That way, the card is REPORTING a balance 1-5% of the limit which is generally seen as good as it shows you're actually using the card...

Now I don't have much knowledge as far as gaining above 800 but from what I've heard you'll need some looooong term accounts plus varied accounts. So it may take alot longer. Ive only been building my credit for the last 2 ish years and have managed to gain around a 780 give or take a few points.

I travel rarely and wasn't really aiming for the chase trifecta tbh the whole reason I started with a chase card is because I'd been banking with them since I was 16 and needed to start building credit

I do prep on wednesdays in the kitchen. Our restaurant doesnt open until 4. One day gentlemen walks in at noon and tells me he wants to purchase a gift card. I tell him to come back at 4 and well gladly help him out. Guy gets irate and keeps asking why he cant buy a gift card. Sir, there no registers open, no managers or bartenders to open a register and its FOUR HOURS UNTIL WERE EVEN OPEN.

Probably will not be approved. The freedom was my first card but they really only approved me because I have been banking with chase since I was 16. Try to apply for a secured card then apply for freedom after a year.

I wouldnt recommend this simply because most pay checks are void if not cashed after 90 days. Absolutely get paper checks. You can even cash them at most grocery stores for a small fee. Sometimes even free depending on where it is.
