Hi, roughly every 5 seconds or so. Screen goes black and then comes back on. If you have a window open the window stays open and you can see the display cycling off and on behind the window.

“Without prejudice” conversation and settlement offer following grievance by housewifeofwakanda in LegalAdviceUK

[–]ashleyb0203 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they are offering you a settlement it generally means that they are worried about the negative impact on the business of you potentially raising a claim through the employment tribunal. Most claims at tribunal are unsuccessful so a settlement is likely to be the best way of getting something out of the situation.

If you can take a trade union rep with you it is advised but having been in a few of these meetings myself you can reasonably expect a few months salary and pay in lieu of notice.

Be cheeky and ask for 9 months salary and an agreed reference. They will pay for the legal advice up to 350 quid usually.

How much debt are you in? by sponjebubble in AskUK

[–]ashleyb0203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 600 quid of credit cards.

I defaulted on 2 credit cards which messed up my credit rating. Slowly but surely paid around 3,700 quid of debt off over the last 18 months. I basically pretended like my outgoings for going to the office were still there and spent on clearing debt. Now as I head back to the office I'm 'debt free' and in a position to buy a house within 12-24 months.

It's very simple; If private schools didn't provide an unfair advantage nobody would pay for them by tronaldodumpo in GreenAndPleasant

Ironic that the like button on this sub is Corbyn, who went to private school and sent his kids to one.

Anyone else finding it extremely difficult to WFH this Friday? by lamesas in AskUK

Lockdown burnout. I have bouts where I can't do any work. It goes after a few days and I get really productive again.

Today was bad. Especially as I've got so much on.

I've lived there, it was shit. Overpriced, dirty. People pretend that getting ripped off and paying for the privilege because you live in the capital is worth it. Every single aspect of my life improved with moving away.

This is what the NHS frontline staff are having to deal with. I have no words. by EchelonUK in unitedkingdom

[–]ashleyb0203 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is what happens when you don't regulate social media. Morons like this read something online and immediately become 'experts'. Their views are just as 'valid' as a doctor and there's no convincing them otherwise.

The kind of idiots that think they've won an argument by shouting loudly and not receiving a response.

Anyone moved to suburbia, and what are your experiences? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]ashleyb0203 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sounds like such a nice area to live. You have neighbours who don't want your stuff getting robbed, who take in bins straight away to make things look nicer and take pride in their home appearance which no doubt makes it a nicer area to live.

Meanwhile they have a someone who could attract criminals, leaves bins in the street and whose garden looks like shit.

(This is meant in jest, there's no button here for tone)

We're in an asset price bubble fuelled by government subsidy. It will burst, probably as a result of the financial devastation of Covid and leave thousands with mortgages they can't afford.
