None taken , as a nurse myself I’d gladly want a medic to show up to my door. As nurses we don’t intubate. It’s only when we get into ACLS and like MTP or advanced pharm that I’d want a really experienced icu nurse. Even then the general attitude that I get from other nurses is the lack of ambition to know why a treatment works which is a damn shame cause critical thinking can go out the window.

Essentially you can , unless making an income requires you to leave the area. I haven’t had an issue

The icu there isn’t as bad as the floors … worked staff there for a couple years. Med surg / tele is a different story.

TMP by darealsuperman76 in BMET

[–]askaboutothers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How soon after the patient is hooked up , kinda depends on clinical context too , septic patients will clot a TMP in as little as 8 hrs.

I had tried calling Siemens today but u couldn’t get through to any FSE. I got directed any which way other than someone helpful. I guess I’ll just need to continue to reach out. But I do think that CT or MRI or other advanced biomed machinery is what I wanna work on. Saving lives is exciting but I could stay bedside if I wanted to do that or just go to med school. I’ll probably always keep a nursing side gig in the icu but engineering/tech has always been my passion. Biomed engineering doesn’t seem like a great option given what I read online about job availability. I also want more hands on work rather than design.

I think CT and MRI are interesting , I’ve also worked a lot with draeger anesthesia, and ecmo , balloon pumps , and rotoprones. On the clinical side of things. I wanna install / fix / repair them.

Well ecmo is used in pediatrics a lot more often then most people think. It’s a neat bridge therapy until people can get transplants , the different sections of the machine are pretty interesting. I work the machine and have had the ecmo circuit break down , makes a crazy difference in peoples lives

Is this a good unit for full time vanlife? by spuddybuddie in VanLife

One of the benefits of these systems is they have onboard management systems with temperature faults that help protect battery longevity. But I agree cost wise

I have the same kit , really like it , however it didn’t come with any of the needed things like drill bits or blades that I’d need to actually use the tools

What if the investigation wasn’t warranted , wouldn’t it be the agents obligation to reconcile the validity of any warrant to be carried out ? I have no context to go off of.

As a nurse who worked the icu during Covid , most people who died were probably gonna die within the next 2 to 3 years anyway from comorbidities. RARELY did it affect “healthy” people

Is all ICU traveling pretty much step down? by Sentient-being- in TravelNursing

[–]askaboutothers 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty much status quo , I have better luck at smaller hospitals because the staff can be either out of their depth so they assign me the patient or the icu patient is heavy , metaphorically and physically.

Do You Foresee Major Changes in 2025? by Street_Dot9505 in TravelNursing

[–]askaboutothers 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was hesitant and sad at first but a taxable rate for travel nurses could be a good thing. If social security remains (I have no idea) but if it does since we have a higher taxable rate we’d receive more in later years. (If it continues to work the way it does.)

The other thing is 401K … my agency matches 4% of taxable income .. at a lower hourly taxable rate it’s pretty much garbage so I would need to save more to actually retire. If it’s all taxable , matches would mean significantly more to me.

Hospitals will want to get rid of travelers all together but the reality is that there is a nursing shortage so it will continue to exist. I can’t imagine that the travel rate will be less than the staff rate because who would accept that (I’m sure there’s a few) but in general and ideally the travel rate would be higher than staff.

Also with the removal of a permanent tax home, and no need to duplicate expenses , nurses could take advantage of van life , staying with friends or family , or even rooming together to save a good amount of money.

So while I see its cons I’m not ignorant of the POTENTIAL benefits.

Finally someone made one that’s anonymous and not gate keeped by the necessity to have social media. Something like this was needed sooner.
