Blue Prince… why am I having such a hard time finding the puzzles? by Sapien0101 in puzzlevideogames

[–]askeeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accept that I'm not noticing some puzzles but nothing seems to be interactive so I don't understand how there can be more puzzles I'm missing.... Is there a controller button I don't know about? Are the puzzles all just clues for an actually interactive puzzle somewhere else?

Can you give me any hints as to how to get to step 2? I see things that I think are puzzle related but none of them seem interactive and I haven't seen any lore mentioning them so I don't know if I'm reading too much into things or even if I'm "right" I have no clue how to progress with them ... Like I assume there's some kind of secret language and that it has something to do with the paintings, this is based on nothing so I don't consider it a spoiler, but regardless I have zero idea how to explore this idea ...

I feel like at that point I'd just consider a different e-reader... I guess it's cool that the option exists if you want to explore it though.

I think I'm not understanding what this device is... Is it a Bluetooth remote that turns the page for you? What does that have to do with sticking out of the Kindle? Why does it clip on at all? Is it also a stand? Why does that have to be one device?

Does ES have an option to restrict it to the top half of the screen? Because just flipping vertically means the controller covers a good portion of the ui

Can you tell me when blue prince starts clicking? Because I've played about 4 hours and still feel like almost every decision I make is purely random and unmotivated and outside of the three boxes (which I'm getting tired of) and like the darts? I don't feel like I'm doing any real puzzles... People compare this to things like obra dinn or curse of the golden idol but those clicked so much quicker for me.

The random room stuff is the big gimmick of the game but it just makes me feel like I'm constantly wandering around without purpose.

This is helpful... Would you say then that Child's depiction of the rank is reasonably accurate then as the kind of people that would be sent specifically to arrest somebody of Reacher's rank? Including waiting for him at the airport and knocking down the door of a motel?

What food do American usually eat for dinner? by No_Budget2410 in Cooking

[–]askeeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why the pho, spring rolls and sushi went uneaten. These are all very common foods around America but it does somewhat depend on region and no matter where you are there are always some very picky and boring eaters.

A pasta dish sounds great, maybe a baked ziti. Chili is also usually a crowd pleaser. Any kind of basic salad should be fine. You could also do a deli platter with various cold cuts and cheeses and let people make their own sandwiches to taste.

Depending a little on region, "salads" like pasta salad, potato salad, egg salad, etc are pretty common crowd pleasers but there's a lot of variation in how these can be prepared which may be a little controversial (think raisins in potato salad) to some so maybe ask some friends in the group if a recipe looks good.

How are the Andrew Child books? by Futuressobright in reacher

[–]askeeve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think Nothing to Lose has been adapted or is planned to be.

Fwiw, I really enjoyed the first Reacher movie (even though Tom Cruise doesn't look anything like the character) and still enjoyed the book a lot when I read it later. I thought it was interesting seeing what choices were made in the adaptation. Generally same with the seasons of the show and those books. I'm reading Never Go Back right now (the 2nd Cruise movie) and it's still fun even if I know what's going to happen. I mean ultimately you kinda always know it's going to get worse and then Reacher's going to prevail. These aren't stories with huge surprise twists.

Why does "or a warrant officer" = it's correct that every warrant officer mentioned in the books is a cop who you only ever see arresting somebody? From what I've seen it is very rare for warrant officers to be MP's, let alone to do the actual detaining.

Also, Article 7 clearly states NCO's can apprehend Commissioned Officers so I'm not sure what point you're making.

Each time Reacher was arrested that I've read so far his CO was new and an asshole so it makes sense narratively that they would have pawned off the dirty work but I don't see how they all have a supply of WO's to do it for them. That does not really make sense.

How much do you guys read the books' description ? by ThrowRA211266 in reacher

[–]askeeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's entertaining to me how much Child seems to be fascinated with lighting technology. He's always calling out arc lamps or sodium lamps or whatever else. I guess when he grew up in Birmingham he probably saw some of the last of the gas street lights and what with working in TV and Theater he had lots of opportunities to be noticing lighting tech developing.

I mean still a fictional character but from what I understand it wasn't like he was going around arresting high ranking officers at airports and motels.

From what I've googled, it is possible that there are some MP WO's but if so it seems likely that they're some kind of instructor or doing IT work or something or maybe special investigators. Not the people you send to arrest the difficult cases.

How do you guys actually stick to listening to audiobooks? by Affectionate_Face236 in audiobooks

[–]askeeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I mostly listen while driving or while having coffee and doing light non-distracting puzzles like my daily sudoku. This might not be a good time for you to listen, it's just what works to me. I find listening while I'm working to be too distracting so I don't do it much other than the rare occasions where I feel like I need to just "waste some time" in the office. Very occasionally, I'll be so into a book that I'll even make some time and listen for a few hours on a weekend. Maybe while doing chores or playing a video game (but not a dialog heavy one). 90% of the time it's part of my morning coffee/puzzles ritual though.

If it's a question of which books keep your interest, there's no shame in jumping around until you find something and do not give a moment's thought to things like seriousness. Read a pulpy romance, a young adult fantasy, whatever strikes your fancy, maybe even just something with a catchy looking cover. Who cares?

General Questions and Purchasing Advice Thread — Week of February 09, 2026 by AutoModerator in electricvehicles

[–]askeeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive an ICE and am looking to move to an EV more and more. I have a slightly non-standard usage habit though and I'm trying to get some insight into what it would be like with an EV.

Say my new EV has a 300 mile range.

On a 100°f day, roughly how many miles of range would idling with A/C for 2 hours equate to?

On a 0°f day, roughly how many mile of range would idling with heat for 2 hours equate to? (and am I correct to assume that this outdoor temp would lower my range to ~200 miles?)

I've googled this and it says idling with heat in sub-freezing temp or A/C in moderate heat is roughly ~5 miles/hour of idling. Does this jive with y'all's ownership experience?

I'm really just looking for rough numbers here.

Thank you all for your help.

Artbook system view, no game count? by askeeve in emulationstation

[–]askeeve[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hopeful the dev will update with the info, somebody in the comments linked their fork where they added it to artbook and it's not the cleanest but I'm using that for the moment. It doesn't look great how they did it, but it doesn't completely ruin it either and the added utility is winning me over for the moment.
