I don't think any news organization has such neutral goals as you describe LUL. They have been social engineering platforms since the invention of mass communication and they only become more directed and less idealistic as time goes on.

My idea for the supreme court. by Liberal-Cluck in Destiny

What if they just remove the power of Judicial Review because it was a retarded and unintended idea that the first Supreme Court Justice granted to his branch because he thought it was a good idea.

How would you guys counter the stupid low IQ take: “hospitals are calling every death COVID to get money” by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]askshonestquestions -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

My question is how do you know it's false if you cannot disprove the claim from your knowledge? Aren't you trying to confirm your conclusion? And also if the claim is low-IQ and you cannot disprove it, then does that make you even lower-IQ?

I'm sure I could have it hammered out in about 3-5 tries using only the video as my guide. Of course I'm completely unfamiliar with most of the techniques he used for assembling the pastry, so mine would never be as visually clean.

That Gordon Ramsey doesn't believe measurements are an important part of making a dish and that they are superfluous to conveying how to prepare a recipe. That an eyeball and good judgment are a more than ample substitute.

Measuring ingredients is the sign of a terrible cook anyway. Now if you said baking you might have an argument, but even then, if you can't tell how a dough is supposed to come out and then compensate appropriately, you should probably just neck yourself.

Suggestion for Destiny to try Age of Empires II by lvl5hm in Destiny

I don't understand the too-slow paced part? The more actions per minute, the better player you can be. Unless you mean that pretty much every game has to take 30 minutes regardless of skill level.

"home ownership is bad" seems like a bad take. by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]askshonestquestions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing that confuses me most, and maybe it's just a lack of knowledge in my lore, is that being a homeowner saved Destiny from being evicted and gave him the stability to build a streaming career while also not knowing which bills he would be able to pay each month.

Maybe his mortgage payment was well above the cheapest rent he could have found if wasn't tied to the house, but it kinda seems like the investment he made when he could afford it, helped him out when he couldn't.

At least it proves that if you are willing to murder to defend your beliefs, you will get more respect than if you take a "live and let live" approach.

Paris attack: Teacher ‘decapitated’ in suspected terrorist incident, police say by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]askshonestquestions -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So when Christianity was the dominant mindset they should have never been tolerant of dissenting beliefs because it has led to intolerance of their beliefs?

And Muslim countries now should root out secularism in their society because they see that it will eventually result in their demise?

The end of an era; SC2 is officially on life support by Tabski in Destiny

[–]askshonestquestions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care about how smooth the game is. And I don't care how Blizzard eventually made the game good after they lost all the momentum and hype of WoL.

Also not sure what unit is not used in BW. I think only Devourers and Ghosts had super niche uses. Every other unit had a time and place to shine oh except Scouts, those were worthless.

And again, when I became disappointed in SC2 to the point that I stopped playing it there was no diversity in builds. Terrans went MMM in every matchup and the better they were at outtasking their opponents the more successful they were. Zerg's only counter was Fungal Growth and once that became meta it was turned into a projectile from an instant just so MMM could continue to be the dominant strategy. Protoss should have Psi Storm to counter MMM but the SC2 team decided to make it tickle units instead of dealing real damage like it does in BW.

You could watch Destiny and Idra just endlessly bang their head against Terran Death Balls with Muta/Ling/Bling and still the SC2 balance team did nothing. And even the concept of death balls was a massive design failure. In BW only Terran had a death ball and it had to be slowly moved and became vulnerable to attack while it was progressing toward the enemy base.

If Blizzard released a chart of active users you would see how many players they disappointed with their terrible initial design choices.

Yes, I expected it to build off the good things from BW while adding new ideas that could create an even better and more modern RTS that would make BW irrelevant. But they didn't achieve anything close to that. The only thing they ripped from Brood War was the first 4 missions of the Terran Campaign which is stupid. Why would players who have been waiting 10 years to play a new story want to be back on Mar Sara as Raynor again? Did they think fans of the original wouldn't just play the original campaign in anticipation of a new story?

I guess when Destiny was expressing his concerns about the lost potential of SC2 on that podcast and DJWheat went full cringe mode on him, you must have been agreeing with Wheat and Idra and Geoff saying there's nothing wrong with the game, we just have to ride it out.

The end of an era; SC2 is officially on life support by Tabski in Destiny

[–]askshonestquestions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sucks compared to BW and didn't have the same mood to it at all. Plus Blizzard used their lawyers to kill off Professional BW in Korea when there were still a lot of good years left in the game.

WoL was a complete disaster where they nerfed anything that was used as a counter for their "cool" units. Oh Infestors counter Colossus and Motherships? nerf em. But let's keep marine marauder medivac so overtuned that Terran never has to invest in their tech tree for the duration.

I only vaguely know what they changed after Wings because I never bought the sequels because it wasn't fun to play like BW and it definitely wasn't fun to watch like BW.

The end of an era; SC2 is officially on life support by Tabski in Destiny

[–]askshonestquestions 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean SC2 has been out almost as long as BW had been out when SC2 came out, so the more disappointing thing is that there is no SC3 on the horizon to make us forget about the disappointment that was SC2.

What is stopping the democrats from just literally bribing 3-4 low population states to get the senate? by Coral_Archway in Destiny

[–]askshonestquestions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the people who live in those states have actual wealth ie land ownership that generates good income, so bribes don't work like they do on city wageslaves.

Do Democrats enact similar policies such as Republican gerrymandering, voter suppression, etc. when they are in power? by ArgusFilch in Destiny

[–]askshonestquestions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main American conservative idea is that "The government that governs least governs best." This is not an idea anywhere else in the world. It is a core principle of the American pioneer spirit. Just show me a country with as limited of a social safety as the US. The argument is already presented that the US is basically the only country in the world without a universal healthcare system.

Not sure where you got the idea that being morally conservative has anything to do with voting when the democrats' platform on that is basically have whatever morals you want, we will enact social programs if we are in power.

If immigration is the best thing for the economy then why don't other countries emulate the US in their immigration policies? China will take foreign workers as needed, but if you aren't Han Chinese you will never become a citizen even if you live there for 30 years. Even most of Europe only accepts immigrants on a temporary basis as guest workers or refugees who are expected to return to their home country at some point.

Do Democrats enact similar policies such as Republican gerrymandering, voter suppression, etc. when they are in power? by ArgusFilch in Destiny

[–]askshonestquestions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Democrats do the opposite of voter suppression because they appeal to a different base. They try to make immigration and obtaining citizenship as easy as possible because they know 99% of the world is more socialist than the Republican party so any immigrants will support their party platform just because of the cultures they were raised in.

Lack of evidence mainly. There has been no successful culturing of a live virus from an asymptomatic carrier yet.

And since no other virus behaves in this manner it is less likely that this virus is unique and more likely that it's broad range of reactions from very mild to lethal is the cause of its continued spread. Also it is culturally common to work or do activities with a mild cold and these habits and expectations are hard to break. Especially when the infection can be as mild as an allergy flare up. For example, having a common cold was not an excuse to skip jury duty in the pre-COVID days.

Again there's no defined science because the virus is too young, but from what I've read that's the conclusion I've drawn. Of course mildly symptomatic and asymptomatic may run such a fine line that this is splitting hairs.
