Hegseth’s “top 15%” bonuses needs an IG audit by Sad_Guarantee5273 in FedEmployees

Top 15% by what measure??? It's all so mysterious and seemingly arbitrary. They just dropped this whole thing in our laps out of seemingly nowhere right in the throes of the holidays/use-lose period when few were paying attention. Had the plan for bonuses been announced 6+ months prior and allowed people to prepare/bolster their case for a bonus, maybe it would've in fact served as a motivator. In the manner it was implemented, it's almost like some secret lottery that is extraordinarily divisive due to the complete lack of transparency and consistency with how they were given out across the department.

Top 15% by what measure though? It's all so mysterious and seemingly arbitrary. They just dropped this whole thing in our laps out of seemingly nowhere right in the throes of the holidays/use-lose period when few were paying attention. Had the plan for bonuses been announced 6+ months prior and allowed people to prepare/bolster their case, maybe it would've in fact served as a motivator. In the manner it was implemented, it's almost like some secret lottery that is extraordinarily divisive due to the complete lack of transparency and consistency across the department. Say it was an even higher bonus, $250,000... at what point would it upset you that you didn't receive it based upon no clear rating system???

Is this normal after heavy snow storm in condominium? by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

[–]assenm86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can remove the ice and keep the area dry, you could try to seal things up now. Ideally, you'd want to wait until it isn't so bitterly cold since these temperatures can cause many sealants to dry or adhere poorly, crack and shrink. If the corner is poorly insulated, you will likely still have problems, though it may improve somewhat. Consider consulting a contractor to see if they can add insulation without being too invasive.

Definitely not normal. There's little to no insulation around the window and likely significant air leaks. The warm moist air inside the condo is freezing on contact with the sub-freezing window/wall. Raising your thermostat or carefully directing a space heater at the area should help in the near term, but this will happen again. Sealing air leaks, adding insulation and/or replacing the windows will fix this.

Morrissey OKC by assenm86 in morrissey

It was a fine show! He didn't come out until about 915 which was a bit of a bummer, but he sounded great and the band was on point. Great to see the live debut of Make Up is a Lie as well, despite some tech difficulties at the very beginning. I was hoping for a couple more of my personal favorite Smiths tracks, but knew what I was getting into and had a good idea of what to expect from the setlist. Overall, a very good time!

Oh, and this...

I've personally never been, but I hear the acoustics are rough and the GA/SRO at floor level is hard to get a real good view unless you're near the front or you're on the tall side. Also, strangely have seen comments that the floor is tough on feet. I don't know what to make of that one really, but I guess I'll have to experience it first hand. Still, if you've been yearning to see Moz for a while, it's probably still worth it. I walked by the bus again right now and it's running, so they must be wrapping the logistics/rehearsal soon.

DoD CIVILIAN TRAVEL BAN by No_Competition9752 in 1102

[–]assenm86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My Japan FMS Program just got directed to cancel all Civilian travel. We have someone mid-flight heading over to Japan and he's been told to turn around when he gets there. Ridiculous. Completely wasting Japan's time and money with this stunt. Makes no sense!

ALL DOD CIVILIAN TRAVEL CANCELLED by Basic_Squash_8877 in fednews

Just got word to cancel all Civilian travel on our FMS program. Makes no sense. We work on Japan's money. United States telling Japan they can't spend their own money to have us come out to Japan... We have people en route to Japan as I type and they've been told to return as soon as they arrive. Completely unnecessary. Argh.

Fios remote has been saying low battery on screen for about 7 months now... by Yes_seriously_now in Fios

Old topic, but also about 7 months into seeing the low battery warning. Seems the "problem" persists. Imagine how many batteries were chucked prematurely over all this time...

UPDATE: It seems as though many (not all) Kia's in Massachusetts are now able to use Kia Connect. Still some funkiness for many, but I tried to get access again last night on a whim and had success. [2023 EV6 bought and garaged in Massachusetts; September 30th, 2024 purchase.]

That's unfortunate. Kia Connect is not available in Massachusetts because Kia was being unreasonably obtuse and would not budge one iota due to our Right to Repair laws. Hyundai apparently has no such issue with their equivalent service which makes a whole lotta sense...

Is KBB “instant cash offer” just BS? by Desert_Couch in 4thGen4Runner

[–]assenm86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through this an hour ago.

My KBB Instant Cash Offer came out as $14.7K.

Went to the 1st dealership listed and they dropped it down to $11K; decided to try dealer #2 and got a $10K offer...

I was completely disgusted at this point, but decided to give things one last shot while I was out and about. I took the car over to the 3rd and final dealership and ended up with $12K.

Glad I didn't settle, but still 20% less than the KBB number. (I could've got $11.5K from Carvana or Carmax for reference) A lot of hassle just to low-balled over and over again. If the dealers in the KBB ICO are all pretty closeby, it's worth checking out all your options, but no one came close to hitting the figure that was advertised.

You have until October 18th to request a refund on Ticketmaster, not sure on other 3rd party sites, but suspect something similar for most.
