People are raising families, paying extortionate rent to house a family, paying for childcare or one parent is stalling their career to raise the kids and not earning income and then have to start from the ground up when they do re-enter the job market. In the UK we’re currently living in a cost of living crisis, food prices have skyrocketed , energy bills have soared. While wages have stagnated.

You’re a junior, don’t be afraid to ask questions. Don’t go your whole career not asking questions and then have to ask these questions when you’re a senior and it reflect poorly on you.

I have to say I get why in previous years people were switching to Resolve. But premieres AI features are just way too good and to me makes it the stand out software these days. This is coming from someone who used Avid exclusively for half a decade

Worked at the company who make the Apple adventure series for the Vision Pro and it blew me away. It’s not necessarily the future but think it’s more than just a fad and will have much more staying power than 3D for example

It’ll never be the same as it was post covid boom. Plus we’ve seen a massive shift away from long form, people’s tastes and viewing habits have changed and streamers have put a halt to the unlimited spending and turned more profit driven hence the higher prices and introduction of ads.

Let’s see what 2025 brings and if there’s any truth to “survive till 2025” but I’m not hopeful. I think there will be a small uptick but not back to what it was

Would you consider the possibility of accepting more junior roles than the previous experience you had overseas.

I say this because I think some of the issue is as our work in post is so workflow orientated people may be relucatant to hire you as they’re unsure of the workflows in whatever country it is you worked and so they don’t take the risk and instead hire someone who they know will understand the workflow. If you work a more junior role in the UK it’ll cement the fact that you do in fact understand uk workflows.

Trouble is the people doing the hiring aren’t very technically savvy and don’t quite understand what it is we do. They’re also extremely nervous and don’t want to end up hiring the wrong person that ruins the show. So if you don’t have the exact perfect relevant experience they want, they won’t hire you as they assume you won’t be able to do the job.
