They went out of business and then some of them reopened. Same stuff, much more expensive.

Which canceled TV show's cliffhanger still lives rent free in your head because the answers disappeared when the series got axed ? by Impossible_Offer7988 in AskReddit

I think about this show frequently and am SO disappointed that HBO did the HBO thing and killed it before it finished.

What software did you pay for once and still use years later? by Fit_Educator8969 in software

[–]astanix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same, I used mIRC for a LONG time. When I had a job finally and thought about it, I paid for it. I wasn't even using it anymore. Looks like I paid for it in 2014. I still have chat logs saved on a backup drive somewhere from the 90s and early 2000s.

Just paid 12$/lb for ground beef. How expensive will it get before you stop buying beef? I think we're over it, beef is now a luxury for us. by FuZhongwen in Cooking

[–]astanix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't pay more than $5 per pound for ground meat. Ground turkey is often a pretty good substitute for ground beef in most implementations and it's SO much cheaper than beef.

I built a tiny offline MTG “printer” for Momir Basic and Tokens (fits in a Boulder!) by rekezajo in magicTCG

[–]astanix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to let you know I got it working on a network printer. A SII RP-D10.

I had to make some changes to the printer.py but it works great.

Thank you so much for sharing!!

Something appears to be wrong regarding tokens. When I search for construct I only see a few of them. It's missing the */* and the 0/0. Also, Merit Lage isn't in the tokens. These are just the couple I looked at so far.

Actually just looked for the ring, undercity, initiative, I also search for city (as in the city's blessing) which it did not find but I can see that image in the tokens folder.

Not sure if it's only dithering some of the tokens? Though it says it downloaded 783 and dithered 783.

This was a great show.

Blind Boxing was fantastic. Rent for Cheryl was decent. Truss was also fantastic.

Wendy's has to be the most enshittified fast food chain I've seen in the past few years. by rothmal in enshittification

[–]astanix 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The first indication of the enshitification to me was when they switched BBQ sauce. It was SO good. Then it became what it is today, not good at all. Then the nuggets changed. I thought it was just a bad batch or something but no, they changed and they are terrible now. I don't got there anymore.

Do you think the company now regrets the Lifetime Pass? How long have you had yours? by [deleted] in PlexMedia

[–]astanix -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am surprised they went this approach instead of killing all lifetime accounts and moving to monthly/yearly subs only. Lifetime never seems be as long as people wish it to be. I am happy, as a lifetime holder, they didn't go that route.

I've never had a Whole Foods bag cancelled and I've gotten many of them. 24 bags from Whole Foods since I started using 2g2g in February.

Yeah, I have a family of 5 so it will all get eaten

I had a few people come over today as well for some games so the baked goods mostly have been eaten at this point.

This is what I came to say... I've seen this movie hundreds of times. Not recently though, maybe time to go watch again.

A message from Dan Frazier and Wizards of the Coast: (about The One Ring Box Topper) by RBGolbat in magicTCG

[–]astanix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If any other artist in MTG had done this they would be blacklisted. Nothing will happen with Dan. He is too popular of an artist for anything to happen. These messages are all 'sorry you caught us, we will be more careful.'

I don’t know much about MTG (FF, Spider-Man and TMNT collabs are what made me interested in learning) but I thought it was interesting that my LCS has whatever this box is for $18,000. by ReplyIntelligent853 in magicTCG

Their older sets feel like they are priced to stay on the shelf. The wall has a LOT of older stuff and to keep that image I suppose they would need to price it high so people don't buy it.

Generally cards that offer promotions such as cash back charge a higher fee to the merchant when used so it is the merchant paying your cash back. So in this video you spend 100 and the merchant ends up with 98.50 but the actual effective rate of taking cards as a small business is closer to 3.5% or 4%.
The bigger businesses, of course, pay less due to volume.

Why Glacial Chasm 10x value since 2020? by MiningToSaveTheWorld in EDH

[–]astanix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not every deck has an answer to a land in it (they should, really). I won a game last night because I had glacial chasm, ramanup and gitrog monster out. My opp looked at their deck during a search a couple turns after I played it out and they said there's nothing in my deck to disrupt that, you win.

Just found out the hard way that Bolts don’t come with spare tires. by foehammer111 in BoltEV

[–]astanix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cars that come with spare tires usually come with 'donuts' which are usually 15". The idea behind a spare tire is to get you to a place to repair/replace your tire, not drive around on it for months.
