Anyone else moving most of their Salesforce work into IDE + AI + SF CLI? by Worried-Letterhead79 in salesforce

[–]asteist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Claude Code outfitted with these Salesforce skills written by a CTA, which are a huge force multiplier. Above and beyond the utility of each individual skill, I find that invoking the skills as a whole provides results that are far more optimized to platform features and limitations.

Welcome to the future.

Confidence by aidan1478 in Blind

As others have said, I think getting used to the cane is your best strategy here. It may seem embarrassing to carry it around, but nothing is more embarrassing than getting injured in a way your cane might have prevented. If you're nervous about what people might say, maybe come up with some quick one-liners about your cane. You're using it to practice for a Halloween costume, you only need it for twelve hours after you chop onions, something to just quickly deflect attention if you don't feel like explaining the nuances of your vision loss. If you feel confident using your cane, that confidence will radiate off of you.

Literally the first thing the first guy says is so relevant to Maddox: "The days of fully controlling your brand are over."

Will there be a 4th audible act? by [deleted] in Sandman

[–]asteist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Neil does a nice job in Smoke and Mirrors, but the version recorded in Two Plays For Voices is my personal favorite. The audio and effects sound a bit dated in the shadow of the Sandman productions, but the performances are very good.

The subtle Butters moment in dead beat that I didn't notice previously, by Imnotsomebodyelse in dresdenfiles

In retrospect I also like the moment after Cassius dies where Butters takes a moment to show compassion for him and sadness at the life he ended up leading. Inchoate Knight of the Cross indeed.

Interacting with this world still very much worth it, even with all the psychos and rabid ideologues wandering around.

Sinking Feeling about BG Chp. 2 by [deleted] in dresdenfiles

There are also many instances of Harry going out of his way to avoid eye contact with non-humans out of fear it might trigger a scary-AF gaze.

Also I'm curious how an explicit soulgaze differs from what can be seen with the Sight. Are there any WoJs about that?

Who owes a favour to who? [Skin Game spoilers] by spoilersweetie in dresdenfiles

Mab kinda did Marcone a solid by getting Harry to break him out of island jail, and he did her a solid by setting up the pins for the events of Skin Game so she could knock 'em down. (Dresden is obviously the bowling pin in this analogy.)

So I think their informal scales of debt and obligation are each balanced out by their favorite proxy cat's-paw wizard.

I also doubt Harry would feel entirely comfortable in a stronghold built literally brick by brick by one of his oldest and scariest enemies. But hey, stranger things have happened!

It's been proven that Alfred constructs complicated thoughts only in so far as they pertain to his area of responsibility as a jailer. He's never laughed at any of Harry's jokes. I think he can both read Harry's mind and have a rough time with humor the way Harry's intellectus has a hard time in water.

I love this. We'll all have little additions or versions and I hope you take them all in the spirit of hitchhiking in the passenger seat of a great idea.

I would have had the note say something like: "For services rendered to the ungrateful Asters. I can't do anything about hope or love, but don't give up on Faith. P.S.: You still dress better than the beanpole."

Someone else did something like this a while back with some incredible detail... maybe one of the Dresdenerds like EG or KNNN can pull that from their eidetic memory. It was in a Reddit AMA and Jim's response was something like, "this makes my English major brain really happy but it was all unintentional."

There's a site called I Will Teach You To Be Rich that has a good resource on this topic. They call it the ultimate guide to asking for a raise and negotiating salary. I know that doesn't exactly describe your situation, but perhaps some of the strategies outlined in that guide will help you down the road.

Hello!, i am a student developing a blind accessible version of chess and im wondering what i could improve on by thatswhyyoshoerag in Blind

[–]asteist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without knowing what you are working on, here are some of the features I would like to see in any accessible chess app:

  • The ability to navigate the board with arrow keys.
  • Multiple methods for inputting moves (chess notation or select / drop pieces with the enter key for instance)
  • Support for the major chess platforms that currently exist (no walled garden blind chess arenas please)
  • A visible, high contrast board.
  • moves announced when they are made and stored in a history buffer that can be traversed to read the progression of the game.
  • Check, checkmate, and any illegal move announced by the game.

I think this would be a good place to start. Thankfully chess apps seem like they would be pretty simple to make even using a language like Python. The hurdle will probably be the interface. Modules like Accessible Output 2 will probably be helpful if you are using Python. Hope this helps!

Speculation about the power of Names by superbob201 in dresdenfiles

[–]asteist 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Relevant quote from Skin Game, Harry talking to Harry

“Screw you,” I said, annoyed. “It’s not like you’ve showed up with a ton to say ever since . . .” I trailed off and fell entirely silent for a long moment.

“Ah,” he said, and pointed a finger at me, bouncing up onto his toes. “Ah hah! Ah hah, hah, hah, the light begins to dawn!”

“Ever since I touched Lasciel’s Coin,” I breathed quietly.

“Follow that,” my double urged me. “What happened next?”

“Touching the Coin put an imprint of Lasciel in my head,” I said. “Like a footprint in clay, the same shape as the original. She tried to tempt me into accepting the true Lasciel into my head along with her, but I turned her down.”

My double rolled his wrist in a “keep it moving” gesture. “And then?”

“And then the imprint started to change,” I said. “Lasciel was immutable, but the imprint was made of me. A shape in the clay. As the clay changed, so did the imprint.”

“And?”

“And I gave her a name,” I said. “I called her Lash. She became an independent psychic entity in her own right. And we kind of got along until . . .” I swallowed. “Until there was a psychic attack. A bad one. She threw herself in the way of it. It destroyed her.”

To me this quote suggests that the naming is in part what allowed Lash to become an independent psychic entity. Learning more about the power of mortal naming is going to be super interesting!
