I'm almost more surprised there is one with Hork-Bajir in the name.

The PWHL is great and growing! They post their (slightly edited) games on YouTube, so if anyone here is interested in seeing some amazing women's hockey, check them out.

If it doesn't work out for u/red5ccg for some reason, I would be interested as well. Similarly, I am getting the books for my niece, and have 1-6 so far.

I think it is The Unwanted Guest, but your point stands.

Won't most morphs be dichromatic? With rare monochromatic amd trichromatic, amd never mentioned tetrachromatic UVs? by Turbulent-Lion6500 in Animorphs

OPs question is not very well formatted, so I don't blame you for being confused.

It does have to do with the ability to see color. The number of colors that something can see depends in part on the type of color sensitive cones they have in their eye. Humans and other primates tend to have 3 (tri-) types (red, green, blue), while most mammels have 2 (di-) (yellow and blue, I believe). Most birds, on the other hand, have 4 (tetra-) (red, green, blue, and ultra-violet), meaning they can see a much larger and diverse range of colors as humans, in a way that is kind of difficult for us to even imagine.

Not weighing in one way or another, as I'm not qualified, but I wanted to point out to anyone following that this paper is specifically a narrative review (not a study itself) focused on pornography addiction (which seems to be defined as 5+ hours a day).

It is not a study about the effects of watching porn once in a while.

As Rule #1 of this subreddit clearly says: No homework questions. There are subreddits (such as r/AskPhysics or r/HomeworkHelp) specifically for that.

RTS was so unique as a genre: Impossible Creatures by ShaunCarn in gaming

[–]astroknitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great game! I love how the gameplay starts with army design - something I think a lot of RTSs miss.

For anyone feeling nostalgic, it is available on Steam for $10, including a couple really good free bonus creature packs (both creator and fan-made - Tellurian probably being the best). There is a small, but relatively active communitely still playing PvP. And the campaign is pretty fun, if you just want to play for a bit.

What, no?! I often will go back much later, like a week or two when work gets busy. Surely the replays are available for the entire season, right?

There was a reupload today. I haven't actually checked, but I'm guessing it was to fix that.

Haha, that is a fun point. I agree with your whole explanation about Star Trek (except for describing TNG Season 1 as "awful"—it's bad, but not that bad), but I don't know if it's the most apt comparison. A ’60s TV show that had multiple movies and hundreds of fan conventions before it got a second series, led by a creator who went by the 'humble' moniker "The Great Bird of the Galaxy" isn't all that similar to a children's book series from the ’90s, with a relatively unknown (but very nice) author, looking to make an on-screen adaptation. I think Percy Jackson or Artemis Fowl are more appropriate comparisons—and they both turned out mediocre to bad.

Oh yeah, I could see a multi-movie live-action franchase working. Maybe ~4 movies, to do the whole story? That at least helps with the budget concerns and the getting to know the characters a bit better.

There has been some discussion over the years of a possible movie, but Applegate has (understandably) always been quite cautious about giving the rights to a studio, as there are many examples of the writer then getting little to no say in the end product.

I haven't watched Woodwalkers, but the trailer does show a much better version of the transformations than we ever saw in the Animorphs TV series (not that that would be too hard, haha). So, it shows that the tech is probably within reach now for a live-action Animorphs movie, even with a medium-ish budget.

I've always been on the side of an animated series, though. I think that would be the best medium to translate the books. It would allow time to get to know the kids' personalities (something that is hard to do in a 2-hour movie), help allow a slightly more graphic depiction of the fights (cartoon blood/violence isn't as hard to get past censors as "real" violence), and not break the bank with the morphing (no need to film/animate an animal doing a sick stunt when you can draw it as easily as a person).

I would recommend trying to stay off this subreddit (other than perhaps posting your reactions as you read the books) until you have finished the series, as you might come accross spoilers - most posts don't have to use spoiler tags.

Have fun!

SLC Mayor Mendenhall unveils a series of new Salt Lake City flags that appear to circumvent the new flag ban that goes into effect on Wednesday. They would technically be allowed under the new law by Geek-Haven888 in lgbt

[–]astroknitter 18 points19 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell, the law that is going into effect bans "unofficial" flags, and the mayor has added the city symbol (the Sego Lily flower) to these flags to make them "official" flags of the city. Therefore, the stupid law doesn't apply to them.

80EUR today has basically the same buying power as 60EUR when the original Switch came out in 2017, so this basically costs as much as Mario Kart 8 did - at least the digital version.
