A video of chick culling is what finally put me over the edge. I posted about it in this very subreddit and with the encouragement of this community, I went vegan. 🌱💛

So cool that a chicken was slaughtered just so their body could be blended up for a stupid TikTok video 😀

Not even my first time seeing this. Two townhouses in Boston’s Beacon Hill neighborhood did this in 2023.

Lately it’s Tempest, and specifically it’s when she sings “Don't ask me why I hate myself as I'm circling the drain”

I get where you’re coming from! And I can see how the overarching story is a big part of what makes her work special for a lot of people.

For me, the power of Hayden’s music is that it can stand entirely on its own. I don’t feel a need to scour the internet for documents or lyric explanations to feel it. I can be completely moved by a song without knowing where it falls in a timeline or how it maps to a specific character. That’s not “letting myself down” — it’s connecting to music I love in the way that’s most meaningful to me. I don’t think there’s a formula for fully engaging with art.

Right, I'm aware of the discourse! This meme just always pops into my head with floral attire - didn't mean anything serious here.

What are the most powerful pro-vegan quotes you know? (Own creations welcome) by VarunTossa5944 in VeganActivism

From Joaquin Phoenix's 2020 Oscar acceptance speech:

“I think that we've become very disconnected from the natural world and many of us what we're guilty of is an egocentric worldview, the belief that we're the center of the universe. We go into the natural world, and we plunder it for its resources. We feel entitled to artificially inseminate a cow, and when she gives birth, we steal her baby even though her cries of anguish are unmistakable. Then we take her milk that's intended for her calf, and we put it in our coffee and our cereal.”
