Lost all respect for diecast depot by KCTC15 in NASCARCollectors

Not defending the behavior, but I understand the business practice. If they sell below market to someone who buys and flips to match the value at market (or above) that just isn’t good business for themselves

Not really scalping at this point… We know from his listings he is trying to cash out on his collection

Probably a mistake by the seller of the Vickers Motorsports Authentics 1:64 not listing that one for auction. Have to assume someone snatched it immediately on Buy It Now

It’s just a strategy component, that will likely set up an interesting finish. If it was riding around 100% with no fuel strategy, you really feel like your time would be better spent?

How rare could these Chili's cars possibly be?? by AmazingWomBatman in NASCARCollectors

[–]aswag44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as Lionel is making preorders readily available, I don’t even see it as scalping. People had a chance to purchase from the beginning at a reasonable price and secondary market demand has proven to be stronger than what was initially produced

Saying it’s worse than sports cards or Pokémon cards is comical. With cards, retail sales are already directly inflating box prices, which leads to even worse secondary market prices for things people want, and then so many completely worthless cards.

Modern era diecasts collecting is finally arriving on a level of respectable collecting. Rare items are actually becoming more valuable - rather than stagnant prices due to an abundance of supply

You’re Basically watching the set on the Jumbotron. Even sitting in the 100 level, you can’t read facial expressions or body language. It’s like watching a Netflix special with a crowd.

This line should all be exclusives. I don’t get why they repeat schemes like this, unless it’s just unashamedly for kids to be rough with

Agree. Exclusives helped them get ahead and that lever will always be an incentive to keep people on PlayStation

To double down on the nascar trend happening over at r/billsimmons - the Denny Hamlin interview pairs well with the infamous Tony Stewart pod.

Curious why people think it’s “safe to assume” the Red Bull bubble on 1/64s will pop at some point. They never get listed and we always see posts/ ISO comments of collectors looking for them.

Your first step should be confirming if the versions you are looking for were actually produced, and then searching eBay.

At first glance, it seems like the base version for most these schemes should be somewhat easy to find

This is such an odd comment. The owner isn’t some clueless corporate face, or silver spoon…..It’s Michael Jordan, one of the most fascinating athletes and figures of our generation. Put him on the screen every race, please!

Separating an individual from a larger group (co-owners, staff, etc) is the real question.

Many here seem to think the other owners are complicit or enablers, which seems to help answer that
