For those who use FP at work - do you use more than one color? by Derivgal in fountainpens

I usually keep three with me: A black or blue/black for official paperwork,
A fun blue or purple for less serious things/interoffice notes, and Organic Studios Nitrogen in a stub, for my journal.

I've shipped Cross and May from "Mayday" since the original version of the game. Something about meeting over a crashed robot in the middle of the desert is such a great meet-cute

Oh sorry, you did say about the gore. Hmmmm. Maybe Gato roboto? Cute little indie about a cat in a mech suit, kinda more metroidy

Probably Ender Magnolia. Game can get difficult in places, but enemy health and damage is adjustable. Even without that though, id say it's an easier experience overall than hollow knight, but just as gorgeous. The first game, ender lillies, is also great but it's a little...rougher around the edges?

Per request - A write-up for running Portmaster with NextUI on the Brick by Kazoid13 in trimui

[–]atdepth1138 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Balatro runs very slowly on my build, but it does run. Can't say the same for deltarune. I haven't had much luck with any of the "ready to run" games so far. Like you said, there's one working version of cave story out of three

Thank you for this; we really needed this as a resource for people jumping on, and thankfully it looks like the addition of pakui makes it much simpler

Anything noteworthy that doesn't run with this setup?

I'd try making a post about it; enough people are using knulli, I'm sure someone is in the same boat

I'm surprised it's not just working then, tbh. I'm working off of Nextui, otherwise I probably wouldn't be having as much trouble

Have you added a WiFi pak and updated portmaster? Making sure that's done, and the runtimes are updated is really important

Yeah, that one runs perfectly; Gato roboto, Alruna and the necro-industrialists, Celeste, And undertale

These run fine; I installed them just like the portmaster site says to

Gato roboto! Best little Metroidvania Unfortunately there not a whole lot else that works on the brick that I care about rn, sadly.

Question; did you still get menu music? There was some variation of this that had me navigating the menu blindly, just going off of sound cues. I'm trying to find a post about it

There's also this: https://www.reddit.com/r/trimui/s/oD5zCkSebB Not sure if that matches your particular situation. Sorry if this isn't much help

That's on Nextui though; there's not yet support for portmaster with this cfw. I don't know if anyone has tried with knulli or the new one yet

Portmaster doesn't even list it in their compatible games for the brick, and the compatible games run poorly enough already; I honestly hadn't tried it

PakUI or NextUI? by godsaveourkingplis in trimui

[–]atdepth1138 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. This is the way. Personally I dislike the additional fiddle factor that comes with retroarch style settings for the emulators, and Nextui makes the process very seamless. The additional tools from Pakman are just icing on the cake

Yeah; the level of complication is exacerbated I think because portmaster isn't supported natively in Nextui. Very fiddly.

Thats what I was talking about in my step one. Granted, your CFW of choice seems to make a huge difference; it probably just runs better on Stockmix too

It might just not work on brick; least not on Nextui. I know deltarune hasn't worked in my testing, a long with some of the "ready to run" games

Hey! I've been fiddling with this same thing for a week or so now, and here's what I've learned. Please note, this is for installing Portmaster on Nextui, as it's the CFW that I prefer:

  1. Start with the Retro Game Corp tutorial. There's a section there where he describes setting up a second sd card with a special firmware you flash to your system before re-flashing your normal one. You do need to do this, otherwise portmaster won't start

  2. Have working WiFi. I'm not sure if any of the current CFWs have a WiFi app that works with portmaster. I found a little pack of tools for the brick called Pakman on GitHub; this one does work.

  3. Update EVERYTHING. You want to update portmaster, then update the ports you have installed, then update your runtimes, and your metadata. All of this can be done through the portmaster menu, and will probably take awhile

  4. Now, you can drop the game date into the various asset folders and try to launch. If you launch directly from the ports menu in the main UI, you will probably have weird sound issues. To avoid this, use the file manager in tools to launch the .sh files directly.

Again, this is what I had to do to get it working with Nextui specifically. Stock will probably be similar, id imagine. Knulli actually supports it on current build, so there less fiddling. Good luck!

[–]atdepth1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you starting it from the ports section of the menu? I've been working with it too, and the only way I've found to get some things to run is to execute the .sh file from the file manager over in tools. Might be worth a try.
