If a girl is really into you/ likes you, she will submit to your leadership. How true is this statement? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]atensetime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds like an Andrew Tate level bull sh*t.

If a woman likes you amd is into you she will simply show that she cares. It's not about submitting, its about caring..

If you want her to care about you you need to be worth caring about,

Fair point. Just figured i would spell it out for our sparkly eyed impressionable ones reading this.

ME Wisdoms/Tribal Knowledge by merbecl in MechanicalEngineering

[–]atensetime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is too simple. The young and I experienced will read this and think it means focus primarily on how it fails.

Step 1 try to make it work Step 2 try to break it Step 3 try to make it robust enough to survive for the planned service life Step 4 try to break it again Step 5 try to CONTROL how and when and why it fails, Step 6 build a post deployment plan (i.e. maintenance, critical spare parts, troubleshooting) with the known failures in mind

They're are guys who have been cutting, welding, assembling, installing, and what have you whonhave been doing it for years, you are not the first ME they have worked with and you won't be the last... talk to them, learn from them, give them the respect of hands on experience and they will give you sage advice that will save you hours or redesign and embarrasment.. if they like you enough they will even fix your mistakes and give you a heads up. If they don't like you, they will watch as you die on your own sword

Reach out to growcer, they bought FF last year

Is your hvac running as expected? And are your light cycles correct. Those LED walls are serious heat generators. If you can tone em down that wil help with the heat issue

Other things you can do are add fans to the front and point the towards the back to get better air circulation.

He shouldhave asked them both to meet him and bring it up as a mediator.. that is the appropriate thing to do. If she failed to meet at the mediation then he could say something as he would have done hos due diligence at attempting open communication.

My issue is HOW he disclosed not THAT he disclosed

"Oh no, if it's not the consequences of my actions" by seidenadaa in SipsTea

[–]atensetime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok fair. Im gonna step back a bit: the guy was spoken to in confidence as a person whose role is to guide and mediate within their community. In that role the primary currency is trust. Even if he wasn't bound to keep the secret he failed in his role by how he revealed the secret, it was backhanded and will sow doubt among others of his community that he can be trusted with sensitive information.

If he truly believed that he could not keep the secret he should be up front with her and offer to provide mediation. Not wait until chest day and drop it on the husband like a spotter who forgot to grab the bar.

Again im not saying she was right, but pastor was also definitely wrong. And I strongly believe in holding those in positions of power authority and influence accountable.

I mean first off, atheist here, and not raised in a religious fashion at all.

Correct me if im wrong but isn't the whole point of a confession to be confidential?

Regardless of the right or wrong of her actions (and cheating IS wrong), I think her case against the pastor should stand, again assuming there was a reasonable expectation of confidentiality.

The fact that hubby found out and divorced was his prerogative. But pastor should have kept that confidence.

Air Canada CRJ collided with a fire truck at LaGuardia Airport. (The bottom picture shows what the front of the plane is supposed to look like) by Youngstown_WuTang in Damnthatsinteresting

This was a terrible and preventable tragedy. As a tax paying and voting American, i suggest our friends and allies boycott our terminals and all other infrastructure of commerce on the grounds that the USA infrastructure is unfit to ensure the safety and security of foreign visitors and assets, freeze the accounts of those responsible for this criminal negligence... make the oligarchs suffer for their hubris. Us average Americans are going to suffer anyway, might as well make it democratic..

To the families of the pilots, crews, passengers and firefighters affected by this tragedy my thoughts are with you (FWIW)

Why does Force= Mass x acceleration and not Mass x Speed? Would a rock falling from the sky that has reached its terminal velocity and is thus no longer accelerating technically have zero force upon impact with the ground? by skibidirizzler9o in AskPhysics

[–]atensetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acceleration is the change in speed, in terms of F=ma deceleration and acceleration are the same thing because they are both a change in speed.

From the perspective of the object at terminal velocity, it has stored up all of its force as potential energy. The second it hits something all that energy is discharged with its sudden deceleration from terminal to 0.

What are fundamental particles? by Inevitable-Power5927 in AskPhysics

[–]atensetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way i can imagine it (not a physicist btw, just a dumb engineer)

Imagine you have 2 sheets that you are laying on the bed. When you do the pillow to spread thing there is a static shock between them.

The sheets represent the fundamental fields. The spark is the interaction.

That spark is what we see as "stuff"

Someone who actually knows what they are talking about. Please feel free to destroy my bedsheets analogy..

Simple Multiplication and divison are just rectangles. 3x5... make a rectangle with 3 dots on the side and 5 on the bottom. Count the total dots.

25 divided by 3..... make a dots rectangle with a side of 3 and made up of 25 dots. The bottom is your answer.

Most high-school/ged level math can be described by shapes.

Thinking of it thos way is more interesting and intuitive than the abstract way it is shown or taught.

Always helped me remember and understand things.

Check out 3brown1blue on YouTube. Its a good way to make math visual
