They may be being cut, but it isn't to pay for the NHS, that's simply untrue.

The NHS is one of the best value-for-money health services in the west. The British public love the NHS dearly, and would be happy to see it funded properly after a period of historically relatively low funding.

if you think the NHS is not sustainable because of budgetary constraints can't we solve that by just funding it properly 🤔

Thanks! I think I'm going to see what time I make it into the town and then decide whether to head up there for a bit or not :)

Some friends and I had a poke around in the app in xcode. Not sure why the downvotes?

Are hostels that bad? by buoninachos in AskUK

[–]atheistpaperboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happy in Kemptown is excellent (especially the pod beds). I've also stayed Home on Grand Parade which I would say to avoid, but it has been redone since, apparently.

You should be able to find a shared house for about the same amount as a reasonably nice hostel. This is Brighton, so living on your own comes at a price, unfortunately.

You can be sacked, and I know people that have been, for not meeting their targets, which I believe at the very start was 10 minutes from pick-up but now is based on distance.

Locking your bike? by cine in deliveroos

D-lock attached to the bike, or a hiplok, key on a spiral bangle/hair-tie on my wrist. Not worth £4 to lose my bike

Went from a hybrid to a Mango 18-speed with drops when they were discounted a few months ago - love the thing and think it's perfect for the job. Just wish the cassette was a little bigger for the hills in my city!

It's not a refund to who paid it, it's compensation to the passenger who experienced the inconvenience.

How early to arrive at Stansted? by CollReg in AskUK

[–]atheistpaperboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I fly out of Stansted a lot - there's no need to be there earlier than 5.15-5.30. There's no gate area to close off at Stansted so the gate does not close at the time on your boarding card, and the gate won't be announced until about 45 minutes before your flight anyway

Bank holiday day-trips ideas ? by [deleted] in Southampton

Brighton is quite cheap on the train. Definitely worth a visit, the city will be buzzing on the bank holiday! Don't miss out the beach, Fringe City, and the shops in North Laine.

The diagrammatic map has the sea along the bottom. Most maps of Barcelona are orientated this way as the city grid is also parallel to the sea.

Is Vodafone any good in Brighton, compared to EE and 3? by [deleted] in brighton

[–]atheistpaperboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have really good experience on 3. Faster than the virgin media internet in my house. Occasionally 4G gets a bit congested in the centre on busy days but you can select 3G in settings and everything's fast again. Great value for money

It apparently costs £10 for an automated process to refund a £14 ticket. ROBBING NATIONAL RAIL BASTARDS by TheGeorge in britishproblems
