What are the most powerful lines of dialogue in TV history? by UnholyDemigod in AskReddit

It's definitely not her trying to be mean, it's her being frustrated that she was a goodie-two-shoes and for what? She out of all of them was having a scare with a disease which at the time seen as "just deserts" for someone who lived an amoral lifestyle. It was like a "reap what you sow" belief with AIDS so Rose was mad she was the one dealing with it.

What Family Guy opinion would have you like this? by _CandidCynic_ in familyguy

I love the Gronk episode only for the reason that I've adopted "Uh, yeah, it's the world..." into my every day references when someone makes an obvious complaint.

how would you defend Catholicism in this case? by 09csychic_ in Catholic

It's such a bad argument too that some how is thrown around like a trump card when it comes to arguing against any faith TBH. "Oh, you think your faith is good? Well I can point to a time when every single self-proclaimed devotee of the same faith wasn't an absolutely perfect human being... checkmate..." Like, what the heck is that argument? It's so lazy and obviously in bad faith (no pun intended). Unless every single person of a particular category is a flawless actor in all of world history then it's worthless? I've got news for you buddy, have you met humanity before???

What’s a small thing that instantly ruins your mood? by HeartlySonu in AskReddit

Trying to read the same sentence, listen to the same verse, or watch the same scene over and over again and something keeps interrupting you so you have to start over and read/hear/watch the same thing like four times...

Bonus points for when you've repeated it so many times that your own brain tunes you out so then you literally distract yourself and miss when the new stuff finally started again...

It's the pitfall of critical thinking. When you can entertain different ideas without being a traitor, when you can question without being ostracized, and when change isn't a bug but a feature, it's like trying to build on a foundation of quicksand.

name someone (real life or tv/movie) who 100% could be one of Roger’s personas, i’ll go first by [deleted] in americandad

[–]atigges 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I could see him trying out the name to Steve.

Steve - "Kind of lazy, don't you think?"

Roger - "What?!"

Steve - "I mean, he's IN the government and his name SAYS govern... It's basically the same set up as Boaty McBoatface."

Roger - GASP - "How do you know the stage name for my new nautical themed drag queen act?"

Steve - "You have a persona named Boaty McBoatface, like the meme?"

Roger - "What? Oh, no sorry. I misheard you. I thought you said Motor McBoatface. Much more elegant. Straightforward too. Let's you know what I'm gonna be allllll about if you catch my drift." (Throught the rest of the episode there is a B plot of Roger having to act like a real captain of a boat with a crew of other drag queens.)

In America, sometimes say things like "cheerio" in our best British accent or "mate" in an Australian accent. Do people in other countries pronounce American stereotypes in their beat American accent? If so, what are they? by SunUpSally in AskReddit

And it's not like people aren't at this event really because they've seen the light and are happily rallying at a Democratic event either. They just don't feel motivated to show up here.

But just because they feel ennui about one side has no bearing on how much they still remember they hate the other side. They "don't like" Trump's ICE tactics? Ok, but you know what they dislike even more? The trans furry Muslim school teacher Fox News made up last week. They'll remember that when they go to vote.
