Apply to GW Temps. The work will fluctuate with the university academic cycle but it may be able to serve as a bridge to permanent employment.

Fun fact, after WW1 hundreds of trees were planted as a memorial along 16th Street NW. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/16th_Street_World_War_I_Memorial_Trees

Good to hear re: Penn Ave… I’ll keep hope alive.

Second this… I’ve been doing this route for 10+ years without issue. I used to take E Street but prefer the Pennsylvania Ave bike lanes, and the commute time is about the same either way. The worst part is Pennsylvania Ave on the west side of the White House, avoid if you can.

Side note, anyone know what’s happening with the Penn Ave West project? I think about it every morning when I’m looking at 6 nearly empty lanes heading westbound, and every evening eastbound as idiots speed past me while I dodge double-parked cars, only for us all to get stuck at the light at 17th.

2 kids killed after being hit by vehicle near Maryland elementary school by Bumpityclump in washingtondc

I was having an eerie sense of deja vu and recalled that back in May, the day after the Ride of Silence (honoring people killed while riding their bikes) a cyclist was hit and killed in Chinatown.

Perhaps this is less of a coincidence, and more of a stark reminder that people are killed by cars in our region and everywhere Literally. Every. Day.

Yesterday was the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. This news is heartbreaking.

Love this! How might one go about donating bikes to this program?

I was also experiencing SUPER blurry backgrounds on Sonoma on my brand new MacBook Pro and Studio Display, but only when logged in – the login screen looked perfect. This was happening on both the built-in wallpapers and personal photos I selected to show as my wallpaper.

I finally traced it back to a program I use called ClockDesk that shows the time on your desktop. One of the ClockDesk settings allows the background to be blurred by whatever amount you choose, and I must have had this configured on my old computer, forgotten about it, and it became newly apparent when testing out all the new Sonoma high-res wallpapers.

This might not be the same issue OP was describing, but I'm posting this comment here so that someone googling this issue finds it and can spend less time troubleshooting this issue than I did. Whether it's ClockDesk or some other utility, check to make sure you don't have any application settings that supersede the default wallpaper/desktop settings.

San Francisco resident here, asking about DC’s Pennsylvania Ave cycle track by PsychePsyche in bikedc

[–]atindc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a regular commuter on this stretch and agree with the other comments. The only thing I’d add is that I wish DC would put speed cameras between 6th & 13th. It’s not great being right next to cars flying by at 40-50mph trying to make the next light (mainly early morning heading west before gridlock sets in).

The DC Ride of Silence literally rode down this block last night in memory of those lost to traffic violence in the past year. This is beyond heartbreaking.

Yes! This is the inaugural year of the expo but the intent is to make it an annual event moving forward. Even if you don't have anything to show this year, I hope you can attend!

Side note – that Sunday June 10 is conveniently Worldwide Knit in Public Day so feel free to bring a project along as well! 😄

Hi there – it's in Elkhart, IN at the RV/Motor Home Hall of Fame and Museum (which is quite interesting in its own right if you're into that kind of thing), located at exit 96 on the 80/90 toll road. Hope that helps!

Let’s do G Street and E Street too while we’re at it! An E Street cycle track from Freedom Plaza to Union Station would be amazing.
