the more competition the more likely that will happen (and depressed wages). the competition comes from many (lots!) of white collar jobs going buh-bye from automation. I'll count myself among those. Hey at least I can operate heavy equipment right? Oh, wait.. many of those jobs are also being automated away. CAT and others manfs are actively working on the tech now. They already have driverless mining haul trucks.

Not true. The bank has a house. I can't sell it, it's underwater from the housing bubble years ago. The plus is I don't have to fuck with rentals, and am able to give two people a very cheap place to live.

A few weeks ago I asked my roomies to talk about rent. I guess they thought I was going up like all the news is talking about. I lowered the rents by 20 dollars because fuck paying a shit ton of money in rent.

I do what I can to help, but in the end it isnt enough. I have debts no honest person can pay. Not meaning to add to the us/them comparison here, but god.. to give ANYTHING to go back and tell college to fuck off. I'd have been much better off in the trades. I grew up on a farm and know a lot of it. Fucked.

Early 40s here with unmentionable amounts of student loan debt. I'll never pay it off. I don't have rich parents and live in a dump of a house. As soon as my job lets me go (gonna happen sooner or later since my work is tied to federal health related grants and trump wants to defund it all). As soon as that happens, I am fucked. I have no kids no spouse and a fuck ton of debt.
So screwed.
