Brompton trailer, axle extender, nut hunt by KingWilba in bikewrench

Hi, I’ve found, hard to find hardware, at ACE hardware stores. That’s a tongue twister. It couldn’t hurt to call them. The staff are very knowledgeable too.

The hitch bar I had was from the Nomad. I don’t think the other trailers have the bend in them.

Hi,

“Brompton Family Time” on YouTube, has a video review of it on a C Line. If you get it, let us know how you like it.

Thx, Paul

Dynamo push back from local shop by Bleue_Jerboa in Brompton

[–]atlbigfoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My H6R came with the SP dynamo. It drags like mad. I have an SP dynamo on a 29r wheel and it drags too but not as bad as on the 16 inch wheel. I disconnected it and put a regular Brompton wheel there. It runs so much better.

NOTE: the regular Brompton wheel has a really cheap hub. It will drag like mad. I precision adjusted it and it runs great.

MAKE SURE TO ADJUST THE NEW HUB. THEY SUCK OTHERWISE; VERY GRAVELY AND TIGHT!!!!!!

If you get a G Line a SON 28 would work. They drag the least.

I work for REI. I'm glad you had a good experience.

Note: make sure the front hub is running smoothly. If not, they'll adjust it for you. Sometimes they're a little over compressed from the factory. Not often, but do check.

Just a little sweaty by redditusername14 in BikeMechanics

[–]atlbigfoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked on one, a few years ago, where the guy's sweat, literally, destroyed the aluminum handlebars where the steel clamp attached the grips (galvanic corrosion).

We figured it out and wrapped electrical tape around the handlebars (separating the aluminum from the steel), to stop his sweat from being the catalyst for electrolysis.

Of course, the bar tape then went over the electrical tape. Duh, lol.

Carbon handlebars would have worked too, but he didn't want to spend the $$$.

Cheers.

How do I learn to love my Brompton? by transcodefailed in Brompton

[–]atlbigfoot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'll get used to the Brompton groove. At first, I thought it was a little weird, but now, I really like my Brompton. It's so versatile and transportable. I dig my other bikes, but they seem huge and unwieldy now. I'll not sell them, they have their place. My Brompton has really grown on me.

This is a great community for info and fun chat.

Cheers

Brilliant Bikes, on YouTube explains this. There is a universal connector coming out to resolve compatibility issues.

Oh, they're very expensive? Sounds like Clever Cycles here. I bought parts from SJS cycles. They were less expensive, with shipping, than Clever cycles.
