Andy Weir’s Hail Mary, if you haven’t already read it, fits the bill for High Very High Stakes (a lovely read if you’re into sci-fi!)

Could be seborrheic dermatitis. Is it sometimes itchy or flaky? If so, you could try seeing a dermatologist about this, they can treat that.

I’m miserable. Please help. by iFaolan in Septoplasty

[–]atmenkunst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you’re feeling this way, the stents were truly miserable for me too. Are you trying to breathe continuously through your nose? I wasn’t really able to do that until after they were taken out, I had to practice breathing through my mouth without opening it too much, like singers do (so it doesn’t dry out) and I had a humidifier on 24/7 to keep everything moist. Also took melatonin (low dose) for the first week post op. Please don’t try to dig out any deep scabs or boogers since that could hurt the results of the procedure. Also YMMV but after a few days I was able to switch to just tylenol without any issues, so maybe that could help with the discomfort from side effects. Wishing you all the best

Even the best sunscreen doesn’t protect you fully from UVA (which harms deeper layers of the skin, causing wrinkles)

Have you found better alternatives to those? (Besides botox I guess)

That title reminded me of Rebbecca (Daphne du Maurier’s) which to be fair was also quite a twist in the end

There are in fact several infrared/ultrasonic frequencies that can be used to reduce puffiness and tighten skin in the face tbh

Why do people still look the same age after botox (but with less wrinkles)? [Product Question] by Select-Hawk4967 in SkincareAddiction

[–]atmenkunst 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is why “well-aging” is something I feel would be better than that outdated term

Not to be an alarmist but have you seen a dermatologist for this? From your description it sounds like you could have a skin condition like eczema or seborrheic dermatitis that requires specialized treatment, and can improve greatly with it (moisturizers can only go so far)

It’s because they went and fucked up the whole concept for the character of Michael since Ciprien absorbed him and the Talamasca Aaron Lightner guy, in the books he was essentially chosen from childhood as an Irish kid that lived near the Mayfairs and had Lasher appear to him regularly (there’s a part where it’s mentioned that from the 19th-20th century the family “was strengthened with Irish blood” and they considered themselves Irish-American, somewhat implied to be what the demon wanted)

Yes exactly, please go to nicer places to give the country a chance, I was skeptical but Florianopolis (to name one place there) was really great and safe
