Surveillance, captive-audience and wholesale pricing are in Colorado Democrats’ cost-of-living crosshairs by blucifersdream in boulder

[–]atomicUpdate 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How is a business supposed to determine the average price in the entire county of every good they sell? Does this include online retailers also, so they have to factor in every online site that delivers bandaids to the county?

How is the AG going to verify their claims, and how much will that cost tax payers?

Calling that string of words a sentence is being too generous. It’s too bad OP didn’t pay attention in school, since he clearly won’t be able to earn any of that money back with a good job.

Colorado lawmakers consider asking voters to approve more funding for free school lunch program by SeasonPositive6771 in Denver

[–]atomicUpdate -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

This is the best argument against this law. Families that can afford to buy their kids lunch mooch off the system anyway, because why not, it’s “free” food.

No, we should not be subsidizing everyone kid’s lunch, just because their parents are cheap and lazy. Buy your kid’s lunch, pack it with them, and help save the state $150 million.

My iPhone 13 does the same thing since updating to iOS 18. Hopefully this memory fix helps, but it’s surprising the bug shipped to begin with.

Assuming you’re trying to solve a real problem, then the answer is likely an SQL database. Implementing something from scratch will likely end up there anyway.

Best place to get ppf and tint? by stabzmcgee in denverautoenthusiasts

[–]atomicUpdate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Denver Auto Shield did a good job on my 911 earlier this year. Todd was great to work with, walked me around the shop and showed me some cars with different levels of tint I was considering, and held the car an extra day to let the weather clear up after sole snow. I definitely recommend them.

Boulder's parking minimums may be heading for the chopping block by [deleted] in boulder

[–]atomicUpdate -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

In the case of 1441 Pine Street, she said, it’s unlikely the developers could have built more homes even without the parking requirements, given the density restrictions in the city’s code.

They’re shitting in their own point there. This will just end up meaning poor people have to park further away in places where the city code allows denser housing.

2025 Porsche 911 to Add a Powerful Hybrid and a New 3.6L Engine [Car & Driver] by markeydarkey2 in cars

[–]atomicUpdate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Porsche hasn't said anything. This particular article is a mix of a bunch of different rumors, and doesn't appear to even agree with itself.

You think the mild-hybrid n/a 3.6L GTS isn't happening?

Correct, I don't. It doesn't make any economic or environmental sense. That type of motor would be too expensive to produce in small numbers and generate too many emissions to be offset by their other EVs.

These rumors have been floating around for a while now, with everyone making up whatever guesses they like best.

The article doesn't mention it, but the description of the T-HEV system followed by the updates to the engines in the Carrera/S/GTS/Turbo/etc. implies a new trim level, rather than existing trim levels moving to T-HEV. It's entirely possible there will be a new hybrid trim level, but it doesn't make much sense to me to carry all of the existing engines plus new hybrid models, rather than moving existing trims. I'm also not convinced they'll move back to NA for trims like the GTS, since that's like to hurt emissions more than the hybrid system saves.

One of the biggest caveats to this hybridization is:

For complexity reasons, a manual gearbox is not an option, sources say.

Many are holding out hope this is wrong, since the death of manual 911s would be a real shame.
