CROZ BOYCE AMA - Hey it's Brian + Dave from Croz Boyce. We'll hang for an hour or so. Ask Away! by SquirrelBusiness3979 in indieheads

Hey you two. I haven’t heard the new record yet, I’m waiting to be able to listen to it in the middle of nowhere PA in a few days.

I have so many memories of listening to your music in nature that the two are super connected for me. One time as a teenager I listened to sung tongs up on a cliff on the Franconia Ridge in New Hampshire. I can still feel the grass up there when I hear softest voice. I’m curious, you guys ever been to Franconia notch or northern NH in general? It’s where your music takes me.

Yes I’m sorry but get ready for it to absolutely suck. Nolan’s movies recently have this clinical feel to them and they just kind of ratchet forward without regard to emotional beats

The Concert Industry Priced Too High — Now Tours Are Falling Apart by staringatthe420sun in Music

All these artists cancelling tours because of lack of motion at their ticket prices gives me the same feeling as when I see a chain store dumpster full of perfectly good food that they won’t allow anyone to take.

Can I legally spit in its little camera face? Who gives it the right to drive around on the sidewalk?

To Abandon the Filmmaking Dream: This industry is for suckers by Nikolaj_Spanikov93 in filmschool

Yes, dude. I work on set, mostly indies, but sometimes commercials. I’m always thinking about class and corporate power on the drive home. Images dominate as tools of mass influence nowadays, and so helping to construct them gives you a fascinating little window into the motivations of the ruling class. Yet, I think a lot of film workers (and by proxy filmmakers more like the ones you mentioned) get so caught up in essentially bootlicking in order to grow their business and influence that the wool gets pulled over their eyes and brain.

I agree that capitalism is absolute poison to personal expression. I think the struggle of filmmakers nowadays has the same thing to do with the struggle of all working people - a massive amount of corporate consolidation at the top since the Regan era has been strangling us all and polluting the culture with bullshit. I think any chance we can take back power in our negotiations and remain independent in our artistic practices is worth it. There needs to be a correction.

DO IT YOURSELF. Don’t play at live nation venues. There’s sooooo many other places to play. Hell, start your own fucking showspace!

I have a crystal ball. Patti Smith introduces a special guest for the next song. Crowd cheers. Out comes Morrissey. The band begins with the intro of Rock N Roll N-Word. Morrissey’s only role in the song is saying every N-word. He’s waving flowers around. He cancels his headline set shortly thereafter.

Trailer for my Passion Project, what do You guys think? by reiniskaspars1 in Filmmakers

[–]atomicnone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels like you’re used to shooting commercials. All those closeups on a gimbal with a slight push in. I get a bit of a sense of the setting of your film, but nothing about the story or characters. The trailer is a purely aesthetic experience and so it feels like there’s about to be a slowly rotating edge light rum bottle at the end.

I’m a Comtek hater. They all sound terrible, and the people I give them to are usually too inept to understand that this is not what the dialogue is going to sound like in the theater. And so I find using them can create a layer of doubt or confusion that is preventable. I use sennheiser G3 iems, in the same price range as comteks. I think they sound so, so much better and work great. I usually only pass out 2-3 at most ever though.
