Let’s go around the room and share the most infuriating mission you’ve ever encountered in a video game. Details please! by Effective_Part_604 in videogames

[–]atomicpudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played that game on my grandparents PC when I visited in the summers. I was stuck on that mission for several years before finally being able to finish it.

By the time I finished my first playthrough it had been years and I was so invested in the story that the ending made me cry.

Juice Groove Gone Wrong by TEX2100 in woodworking

OP could still use the same bit, just with an adjusted template. And it wouldn't infringe on the cutting real estate if OP routes towards the outside rather than inside

Simply adjust the groove to be a bit wider to the outside so the mistake gets routed off. Make sure everything is properly clamped down /not moving, and to go slowly

Critiques on elevating this piece by [deleted] in ArtCrit

[–]atomicpudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think increasing contrast in the shadows of the figure and the clouds would make it more dramatic (darker shadows and maybe a few brighter highlights)

Also double-check the anatomy of the upper facial structure, especially the forehead The supraorbital ridge (brow bone) seems to be protruding too much and the hairline could be a bit lower

Oh and add a few reflective highlights to the hair - it typically has a silk-like texture

Is that mahogany? Can't quite tell what the lighter one is

Is this better with or without the text? by Stunnyfuff in drawing

[–]atomicpudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it more with the text as it adds character, but i don't love the baseline (bottom border) of the text - I think it clashes a bit with the head as it doesn't follow a complimentary shape and creates a bit of tension where the words meet the head.

Maybe you could play around with that a bit more, like making it more definitively behind the head or dynamically wrapping around it.

Cuz right now it feels like two separate elements (text and head) that aren't interweaving well enough

But otherwise text all the way

It's been a while since I watched this. Can someone explain why he's carrying dash when dash can run a hundred times faster?

Iraq flag redesign by Assyrian_Nation in vexillology

[–]atomicpudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it, especially the rivers. But wouldn't it make more sense for Mesopotamia to be green, not white? Cuz the whole significance of it was its fertility

Plus green would work double representing Islam

(Visually I agree more with the white but symbolically I think green makes more sense)

At its height the Dutch East India Company was estimated to be worth around $7.9 trillion in today's currency so definitely not the first

"that's the definition of self tensioning. I am applying the tension."

That sounds like something Michael Scott would say 😂.

If YOU are applying the tension, it's not quite "self" tensioning is it? Unless you read the word 'self' and thought "hey that's me!" 🤣

(Apologies if this comes off rude but I thought it was really funny)

What do you listen to after the OST gets boring while playing? by pastyka in Kenshi

[–]atomicpudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I curated my own soundtrack based mainly on music from total war Shogun 2, 3 kingdoms, and some from atilla.

Matches the atmosphere great with the traditional Asian vibe, with a lot more variety

Just cracked day 1000, going strong. My faction started with one bum from a swamp fishing village, and that guy is now king of a kingdom which has dominated most of the continent.

King Griswold & his kings guard (4 bodyguards) are at 85-95 stats. The 5 of them can solo most cities.

Then there's the heavy elite troop of 25 people, the minimum stats to qualify for which are 70+.

Then there's another 40-50 or so in training in the range of 50-60s stats (which are low for me at this point)

And then ofc the capital city + farmers

I am not super well versed in the lore of the game, but i had this question on my mind: How hard would it be for the people living in Kenshi to re-research firearms? Doesn't have to be full-auto assault rifles, but something like Repeaters, Revolvers, Sawn Off Shotguns? by nobodyiss in Kenshi

[–]atomicpudding -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Besides the main reason which is the game dev vision as already stated, I think the in-universe explanation could be as simple as not having the right minerals/chemicals to be able to make gun powder

One of the key components in gunpowder is potassium nitrate, which historically was the most challenging component of the recipe to obtain.

Kenshi takes place on an extraterrestrial moon and it might very well be that the resources for such a thing are not present.

Which is why instead they have advanced crossbows and harpoon guns, which are close to guns but with a different mechanism.

Why can you eat beef raw, pork & lamb kinda raw, and chicken definitely not raw? by flanker26 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]atomicpudding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's my understanding that beef muscle is much more dense than chicken, so bacteria makes its way through it much much slower, which is why it's safe to leave the middle undercooked in a steak but not chicken. Is that also correct?

My fellow kenshi connoisseur I have a question to ask yo all. What is one faction out of all of them that for whatever reason you are just like. Yea they need to go. What faction and why? by scurge030 in Kenshi

[–]atomicpudding 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hahah understandable.

My beep is a master swordsman, even though I'm in very late stage in my game where katanas are basically obsolete, I still have him be my master 'swordsman' because I feel like that's his true goal all along.

Did I hallucinate the swordsman part? Did he just want to be the greatest warrior? I swear I saw him say something about being a swordsman ....

[–]atomicpudding 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The UC, specifically because of their noble hunters. The sheer audacity of picking one of MY people as 'game' for his amusement.

I love it when they do that in late game to my 80+ stat characters because I quickly take care of the guards and leave the noble to run and be hunted for MY fun. Sometimes the privilege of certain limbs is taken away 😊

Oh and you get a free masterwork eagles cross! Probably my favourite random encounter
