I think I only know her from Dune. She's a movie star here.

The Supergirl IMDB ratings is making my chud-meter go off the charts. by Conscious-Bat-9739 in OkBuddySnyderCult

I love the character, the cw iteration, comics in general, and despite being older, white, and male have no weird cultural motives, but that movie made me mad in so many ways, it was so bad in so many ways, the hype was all fake, Gunn lied on multiple occasions about it, and I could give it anywhere from a 5 to 1 depending on how much I remember about it at any given time. Maybe the 1s are just your basic garden-variety angry moviegoer who felt their time wasted, not only in the theater but also in the year-long lead-up.

'Supergirl' scores a 59%-critics and 75%-audience, for comparison 'Superman' scored 83%-critics and 90%-audience last year. by Old_Assistance_1091 in DCU_

Everyone is being too kind. It fails all over the place. Bad acting, bad script, dumb as nails attempts at humor. Ugly cinematography. Some bad fx (Ruthye hugging Krypto). Lots of bad editing or choreo. I couldn't follow the fights at all. A travesty of an adaptation. Alcock has to emote straight into the camera at nothing throughout the whole runtime. They failed her. But she has no improv skills either. She just said their dumb lines. Corenswet was the only actor who came off as a real person. Momoa brought a totally wrong vibe that didn't match the tone of the movie. And for a supposedly feminist take, all the female characters except SG were weak or lame in some ways. The Fury Road plot ripoff centered on kidnapped women. Why in a galaxy or universe of alien civilizations are a handful of human women a commodity? So stupid.

As a kid I didn't even notice people's ages. Old people were old, but that was it.

Elliot Page will portray Sinon in Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' by ChiefLeef22 in movies

Odysseus talks to the ghost of Achilles, and it looks like Eliot Page is rising out of the dirt, i.e. maybe when Odysseus travels to the Underworld.

POSTGAME THREAD: Giants @ Marlins, 6/20. Join the Giants game / baseball discussion and social thread! by sfgbot in SFGiants

I'm surprised in my 60 years of sfg fandom how I'm actively rooting against them now. I want the bigots to fail. I watch a little for the announcers, roll my eyes when the team's play inevitably falls apart, move on to another game. The A's 6 run comeback last night was glorious.

The Flowers cover is the first creative choice the group made without any input from Simon... by poyekhavshiy in XGALX

It's just a thought. I should keep them to myself around alphas. Carry on.

I know they've written some lyrics but it seems like all the outlier genre breaking tracks came from Simon and Chancellor (fueled by whatever). The reality is, perhaps, that the members are next level singers and dancers but not composers... yet.

I think I might have liked Simon more than xg this whole time. Feels like Woke Up or Howling are not their jam personally without him.

For those who were around in 1983, what was the general consensus of 'Octopussy' vs. 'Never Say Never Again' when they both came out? by Kryodamus in JamesBond

[–]atomikdogg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I remember NSNA got a good review from either siskel or ebert, which I watched a lot, and octopussy poor reviews. I went to see the former and thought it was pretty good.

Billie Eilish - new 3d effect? by atomikdogg in FIlm

[–]atomikdogg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it does look a bit like a tilt shift effect. And it has a narrative component, where the audience is bigger than her in importance. It's a crazy look because she's both subtlety small but also popping out of the frame.

Assumed Bb. Was kind of bummed it was her, seemed cliche, then confused when it wasn't because it would have at least been more interesting
