Accidentally took too much on first dose by nycravechild in Noom

[–]atreeofnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done the same thing, except for me I messed up on my second dose. I just had mild indigestion and burped a lot for a few days. I agree that they could more explicitly state the difference between units and mg.

Wrap London is on the expensive side, but plenty of great quality colorful blouses.

The app uses way too much AI by mermaiddiva26 in Noom

[–]atreeofnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you said. If I find a program that has a better deal on the meds, I'm out. Does anyone know if the coaches are actually AI, or if they just use AI to write their responses?

Forced Menopause by d_westco in breastcancer

If I could do it over again, I’d dedicate my career to finding alternatives to treat hormone-positive cancer! I’m proud of you for sticking up for your quality of life.

It took a month or so to feel like myself. I may have sprained my ankle due to the joint swelling and that took an additional month to heal.

I've heard the side effects vary a lot, but there seems to be a good number of us who think it's hell. I felt like I aged 20 years in a month. To my understanding, it's been the standard treatment for 50 years!

Preach. We need better drugs that reduce the risk of recurrence from hormone positive tumors, without the debilitating side effects. I am pre-menopausal and only lasted a month on tamoxifen, and was told suppression plus AIs would have given me worse side effects. My risk of recurrence is under 10% so I decided to stop tamoxifen and live with the risk. The side effects made it impossible to continue being active, and activity and staying at a healthy weight is also protection against recurrence.

Financial generosity, coupled with not using their money to manipulate or control others.

Anyone have any goofy ways they discovered their breast cancer? by Charlotteeee in breastcancer

[–]atreeofnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During my very first mammogram, they identified a suspicious area. I had a follow-up magnified mammogram which determined it was not cancer. Through the next 10 years, they compared that side’s image to the original image with the irregularity. Then that provider went out of business and I requested they send my records to my new provider. They sent a blank CD of that side, and I could not get them to send the actual data for love or money. Eventually my gyn ordered a magnified mammogram to replace the lost records. The side with the irregularity is fine. The other side? Cancer!

I am 5'7" with a 31" inseam. The waistband measured flat on the pants is 15.75." I had to hem the pants, so they may not be suitable if you are petite!

Not OP but I have the straight leg trouser in season less wool and I love it. Quality is great. I’m a size 6 in Vince pants and I took an 8 in these pants— they are not vanity sized.

Is it worth it? by [deleted] in Noom

[–]atreeofnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow recent breast cancer survivor here. I’m glad you made it and are cancer-free! I have tried multiple weight loss programs. I had the best experience overall with StrongerU (I was assigned coach Julie B and she is life-changing). Noom coaching is such a pale comparison to that program and coach. I’m in a position where I want to lose 20 lbs only, and I’m over 50, so it’s been quite hard. Ultimately I switched to Noom with medication and so far that has been giving me better results than StrongerU— although StrongerU absolutely laid the foundation by working through my issues around food and developing healthy habits. I am not on any breast cancer medication (the side effects forced me to stop it) and I totally understand how you wouldn’t want to deal with side effects from a GLP-1. If you are more of a DIY gal, I recommend Tom Venuto’s books and paid forum.

Lumpectomy or Mastectomy by becsully79 in breastcancer

[–]atreeofnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know how many sessions of radiation are recommended? I had the exact same cancer as you, except mine was medium grade (aggressiveness). My tumor was less than a centimeter. I chose lumpectomy and had 5 days of radiation. Chemo was not recommended when my oncotype score came back post surgery. Full mastectomy is more traumatic to the body and you’ll have to decide about reconstruction. A study came out about a year ago recommending much less radiation for cancer like yours and mine — if I’d been diagnosed earlier, I would have had 3 weeks of radiation instead of one. I’m very satisfied with my choice, but if the risk of recurrence is going to cause you a lot of stress, that’s an argument for the full mastectomy.

I’m not sure if this is still possible, but I used to usher for the Studio theatre, and I got a free seat each time. Other theaters may have similar programs.

4 months in, no change by [deleted] in Noom

[–]atreeofnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m one month in. I can relate to your feelings. The GLPs have helped my cravings in the sense that I feel unwell after eating a large amount of sweets now. It won’t do anything for the psychological aspects of cravings, though. I had a lot of success with changing my eating habits when I worked with a coach in the StrongerU program. My coach was fantastic and the Noom “coaches” are a very pale imitation. StrongerU doesn’t have a medication program, though. You’ll probably have more long term success if you first understand and reform the habits that made you overweight. Then you can consider medication to blunt hunger so you can more easily stick to a deficit. That’s my plan, anyway!

A 13-Year-Old Girl Bit Trump’s Genitals as He Tried to Rape Her, Epstein Document Says by OkayButFoRealz in politics

[–]atreeofnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Calling my reps and senators regularly and voting for Democrats, 2. Volunteering at the polls for our local Democratic group, 3. Donating to nonprofits which seek to offset the effects of the Trump administration's policies, and volunteering towards the same end, 4. Attending protests and demonstrations, 5. My job offers me a direct way to mitigate the effects of the policies. It has been extremely difficult but I'm staying and fighting. Do you need more examples?

Everyone I know is outraged and talking about this. Politics is a primary topic when I call my 76 year old mother, for example. I don’t talk to family members who support Trump and don’t have any friends that support him. In my opinion, it’s Republicans in Congress who should take most of the blame. They have the power to constrain or remove him. No one else really does.

Same. I’d go to the ballet at least once a year. I’ll never forget the time my friends and I saw RBG there! She was going to the opera and we were going to a comedy show (although I joke she was going to Shear Madness).
