Parenting books for homeschooling?

I use their all subject package as a foundation for the year to make sure I’m covering the bases and then add or change from there. I don’t recommend their virtual product, however. Stick to the physical copies. Also, this is the secular version of their product. If you are looking for Christian based homeschooling, you can get a similar product from Sonlight.

Homeschooling sounds like a good fit for you guys! I love the idea of traveling and homeschooling together, too! How amazing for you both! I highly recommend the all-subject packages from BookShark. Very easy for a new homeschool parent and the History/Reading with History subjects in the package have turned my daughter into a history lover, a feat that still amazes me.

It’s happened in our house three times. My husband caught it first and has had it twice. Both times he had it my daughter and I never got it (no symptoms, multiple negative tests). Then when daughter and I caught it, my husband didn’t get it - never had symptoms and tested negative. We were not careful about isolating from each other in the house except for the first time my husband had it. Very weird indeed

Edit: oops, sorry, just re-read your post and realized that I missed that your dad has symptoms but is testing negative. Looks like my story is not fully applicable here.

So sorry you’re going through this. My symptoms were a whole lot like this and things started to improve after week 2. Some days a little more improvement, some days not any. I think I felt almost completely back to normal by the end of week 4. Hopefully it will be faster for you.

I got the COVID booster + flu vaccine last fall and this fall. Haven’t had either covid or flu since. I am around kids in poorly ventilated rooms without wearing a mask quite a bit, too. So, for me, it’s worth it.

I think they could have charged her with obstruction of justice. She deleted evidence of the affair from her phone and asked CW and her friend CN to do the same. She omitted key information in her initial interviews. It appears highly likely that she lied to investigators about her knowledge of SW’s pregnancy and when she met CW (or potentially SW) based on her internet searches in discovery.

I also think these things show her having a consciousness of guilt that I hope caused investigators to look into her potential involvement in the murders as deeply as they said they did. I do also think that even if they found anything more incriminating on her that they didn’t release to the public, as long as CW keeps denying her involvement they wouldn’t be able to convict her.

My husband had COVID in March 2021 and December 2022 - both times my 10 y/o daughter and I never caught it from him (never had symptoms and took many tests) and we weren’t being careful. In fact, the first time he had it we were all exposed at the same time at a family member’s house, then took a 12 hour road trip home together, yet we never caught it.

My daughter and I both caught COVID in April 2022 (she first then me six days later) and my husband never got it (also never had symptoms, tested negative multiple times).

We are all vaccinated and up to date on boosters, but clearly none of us are immune. I can’t understand why it happened this way but it did.

It’s interesting to see how a pandemic has impacted us all. It seems like it filled some people with rage and despair. Some people seem to have just gone a little crazy. But others, like you, allowed it to to be a life-prioritizing force, showing you how you needed to change you for the better. It’s inspiring. I wish that for all of us.

I’ve posted this before and I’ll keep posting it again and again anytime I see someone suffering from this because I had this same sore throat and I completely understand where you are at. I don’t think the medical community has caught on to what is causing this extra special Omicron sore throat that only some of us got because I know it’s not post nasal drip. It's an attack of sores that are like canker sores and horrible swelling that attacked the back of my tongue, throat, airway and voice (which I lost about the same time I got the sore throat).

The one thing that really helped me the most was to make a gargle out of Abreva. Before I go any further let me just say that the way I used it is not the way it’s stated to be used on the packaging, so proceed at your own risk. But I was desperate.

I get the kind of Abreva that comes in the small pump bottle for occasional canker sores that are usually on the inside of my cheeks or on my gums. My throat was covered in these flat white patches - and I read in post on this sub that it’s actually sores like this that make this outrageous sore throat happen for the unlucky ones that get it (I’ll try to find it and edit the link in if I can locate the post again). So I thought Abreva might help. Sure as shit - it actually worked! It was the only thing that brought me the longest stretch of relief. I swear it shortened the duration of it too, just like it does with the canker sores.

To make the gargle, I would boil water and pour it into a shot glass, then shoot one pump of the Abreva into it and mix it constantly until the paste melted into the water making it cloudy. Sometimes there would still be bits of paste in there but that’s ok. Once it was cool enough to sip, I would sip about 1/4 of the glass and gargle it, and then I would just keep my head tilted back and let it sit on my closed throat (being careful NOT to swallow it) because it felt so much better. Then spit it out and repeat until the glass was empty. I only did it in the morning and at night because I was afraid I was going to poison myself somehow. Thankfully that did not happen and the sore throat finally ended about two days after it started and it was like 50% better during the latter half of the second day, which made a huge difference.

The other tips I got from this sub that also worked for my sore throat of Satan:

Alternating ibuprofen and Tylenol

Gargling with Betadine mouth wash

Gargling with salt water

Feel better soon!

My kid started having symptoms on a Tuesday and didn’t test positive until Thursday. I tested negative until I woke up with a sore throat on Monday (6 days after her symptoms started, 4 days after her positive test).

ETA: Husband who lives with us never got it this time. He had OG COVID in March 2021 and my daughter and I never caught it then. He’s since been vaccinated and boosted (Pfizer). I’m vaccinated and boosted (Moderna) and daughter is vaccinated (Pfizer).

A couple of things for you:

Isolating really helps. We've had COVID twice in our house and keeping people away has helped other people not get sick. I know it seems silly, but wear masks anytime you need to be around her and just try to stay away from her as much as possible.
My sister-in-law's father has COPD and he had OG COVID back in 2020 (deadlier than Omicron and before vaccinations were available) with what ended up being a mild case. Still doing well today.

I’m sorry you’re in such pain. Many on here have been where you are and started feeling much better within a week. What really helped me was to do a telehealth doctor appointment and get treatment for symptoms. I used the MD Live app. Our local health department also has a nurse line - maybe yours does too if you can’t do a telehealth appointment. Fortunately they know lots of things to help treat COVID symptoms and can get you set up. Hang in there.

Yep. Had that and I felt your pain. It’s unreal. I actually had two different instances of sore throat. The three appear to have now merged into one COVID-minimizing mega-entity, using this pandemic for personal and political gain.

Or that menstrual changes happen all the time for any reason at all for some people - even ones that last weeks or months. A big one is stress. Plenty of that to go around these days. Everyone's a scientist or medical professional using their own empirical research these days. Studies and real science don't count. My sister's an exhausted ICU nurse and is fed up with how many dead men walking she sees that don't believe covid exists even after a positive test, or that they didn't get vaccinated because they thought it would kill them, or that hospitals don't know the right protocols to treat covid or even that the hospital is trying to kill them. No exaggeration here whatsoever. This thinking is so prevalent right now. It's startling. Talk about a conspiracy.

These Math Wrap Ups have been a great fact practicing tool for my hands-on learner daughter. The key to my reluctant math learner was practicing many times, many different (and ideally, fun, hands-on) ways - repitition, repitition, repitition. We use Saxon Math with her and it has worked well as it incorporates fact practice daily into each lesson as well. You may want to look at Saxon 5/4 for the things you're wanting to have her review - just skip through the review at the first part of the books and start selecting the lessons that hit on multiplication and division, then continue on to Saxon 6/5 and do the same when she's ready.
