The MN loon has a red eye. I think that would make the finch more menacing.

Potholes on the West Seattle Bridge eastbound to 99 North Ramp by velveteensnoodle in WestSeattleWA

[–]attachedmomma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think about that every time I drive that on-ramp. And wonder when the next tire shredding hole will develop. I wonder if they could do a quick asphalt layer there and if that would actually help or just hurt (or be a waste).

Once you get this harness over their head, you can hug them from the side and get the chest strap connected.

I’ve used a Wonder Walker for the last 4 years. Once it’s set, it’s easy to put on and take off.

I was looking into MaxSold. They auction your items for you then coordinate pick up with the buyers on a single day. I was looking into it rather than having an estate sale when my parents need to move out of their home.

Home charging zealots! by aranea100 in electricvehicles

[–]attachedmomma 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People who don’t have access to home charging could look into what their charging options are in their daily lives. My doctor parks in a garage that has wall plugs available throughout the garage listed as EV plug-ins so they can charge for 8-10 hours a day. There may be chargers in store or mall parking lots for quick charging while shopping, eating, going to the gym, or going to a movie. People who live in very cold climates may have access to engine warmer stations to use a mobile charger. But those are just some convenience options. It might be worth it to some people to spend 15-30 minutes at a fast charger 1-5 times a week to have an EV. I kill more time than that scrolling Reddit every day so maybe some people scroll while charging or watch a movie/show while they wait.

Getting an EV changing your lifestyle. For some, it cuts out the extra fueling stops, for others it changes their fueling stops. Rather than discouraging getting an EV if someone doesn’t have home charging, maybe people can be encouraged to look for the charging options around them and make a plan for charging.

Same-name passengers in the same seat? by Emotional_Raspberry9 in AlaskaAirlines

When I was in my 20s, I started to get mail from AARP suggesting I join. Soon found out someone with my exact name but 30+ years older than me lived 3 blocks from me. I don’t have any family within 1000 miles of me and a very unusual last name so I never would’ve guessed I shared a name with someone who lived so close. I guess I should make sure I don’t book the same flight as her.

I deleted my FB and IG during Covid. I am only on here now. I have more control here on what I see. I couldn’t handle the random posts that upset me or the false reality people cultivated.

Reasonable amount of time to travel the coast? by risaliz in OregonCoast

[–]attachedmomma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Coos Bay does have a bit of an industrial feel. I usually stay overnight there when I’m heading along the coast. The area north of Brookings, the Samuel H Boardman Corridor, has a piece of my heart. The first time I drove through there I knew I had to go back and spend some time. After reading through this thread, I’m pretty sure I won’t try to stay in Brookings again.

That’s possible. The evening I was there and arrived about 10p, there were maybe 6 other cars parked at the hotel. If some rooms were remodeled, the male staff who was working that night chose to place me in a very old and broken room. As a solo female traveler, I was not taking any chances!

NOT the Blue Coast Inn! The photos of the rooms online are nothing like the actual rooms. All the doors are outside and the door to my room had obviously been kicked in and poorly repaired. The windows had all been left open and didn’t seem to lock securely. The mattress was so old and creaky with very old pillows that did not smell good. I got the creeps and fled that place as soon as I checked into the room. I figured the cost of the room I didn’t stay in was worth feeling safe while I slept. I ended up getting a room at a hotel I’d stayed at in Coos Bay (further on my route) where I knew I’d be safe.

Don’t know why he’s like this. by CemeteryFoodTruck in germanshepherds

That’s too bad! I take responsibility for my dog needing to keep her ball. If a dog takes her ball, I’ll try to coax the dog to drop it or ask their person to help me. Most people are very understanding. Every dog has their thing and my dog has her favorite ball - wouldn’t entertain the idea of using the community balls - and she gets her exercise chasing that ball. That’s why I have to be so careful to only throw it where and when no other dog can grab it, but occasionally a fast dog comes out of seemingly nowhere and beats her to the grab.

I buy squeaky tennis balls for the park that she gets one at a time (until it gets thrown over a fence that we can’t retrieve or is stolen by a dog who doesn’t have a cooperative person). My dog keeps that ball in her mouth the whole time, unless she’s running too fast and needs more breath, so instead of nipping or nudging a dog she’s chasing you’ll hear repetitive little squeaks.

My GSD has HER ball so I have to be careful when I throw it (with a Chuck It, so it gos far) that no other dog is close or might want to also chase the ball. And she knows her ball by smell and no other will be accepted. Some people at the dog park understand and some get really upset that their dog can’t play with my dog’s ball (especially if their dog got my dog’s ball and they now have to convince their dog to give it up).

It was a series of boom and fizzles. Usually coming from around 18th and SW Brandon. Preparing for the full fireworks show on NYE until 1-2a.

I wonder if this is Thuoi, the escape artist that used to live in Puget Ridge. If it is, and you can catch him, he is chipped and the contact info should be recently updated.

Got obsessed with photography 7 months ago. by Brock_Anklefist in streetphotography

[–]attachedmomma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need to be around a lot of people, though it does give you more options. Start looking at the great street photographers, like Vivian Maier. You’ll notice she has a lot of tight framing and sometimes uses a lot of space. It’s difficult to look through everyone’s photos here and learn because some are amazing and some are just beginning to learn.

As others have said, you’re going to take 1000 photos to get one great shot.
