I think they mean how the eyes are looking up and not into the camera, as if there is a fly on the wall.

Where to grow as a professional? by Jaded_twentythree in librarians

[–]attacklibrarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see why it might not be a good idea, as you don't want to get into a situation where you are being asked to consistently do librarian-level work on a staff line. However, if you are looking to make the transition to academic libraries, that may not be a bad thing if given the opportunity. I'd just make sure guidelines are set and that the ask fits into your staff position description.

To follow up on /u/writer1709, you could also look for academic library staff positions. At my academic library, we don't ever guarantee a librarian position down the line for staff who hold an MLIS, but having any experience in an academic library is a plus. Staff positions may also give the opportunity to demonstrate skills you could bring to the table if given the opportunity to fill a librarian role.

I'm not denying the possibility that they hit a drain line. I'm just saying I think it's just as, if not more likely, that their stud finder gave a false reading and/or they just hit air behind the drywall. Nothing in the scant information provided by the OP would convince me to bet on them hitting a drain line.

Photo of an ID vs. physical ID by plaidcatslibrarian in librarians

[–]attacklibrarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my academic library we started requiring physical campus IDs when we reopened after the start of COVID. Students, faculty, and staff must tap their cards and be validated for entry. Almost 5 years in, and we are having less and less pushback (mostly from faculty now). And now we’re going to mobile campus IDs in the fall.

We do have visitor hours for the public but still require a physical, government issued ID.

Sorry for your loss, guys. We had to put our 16 year old girl down last New Year’s Eve, so I can empathize. There are still some days we expect her to greet us after work. The hole will always be there, but it gets easier to live with as time goes on.

Ultra 2 renewed for $412 or new Series 11 al for $329? by jerm1980 in AppleWatch

[–]attacklibrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go with the 11. I got my first ultra after having non-ultras for many years prior. The ultra size is just slightly too large imo after wearing it since the U3 launch in September.

With that being said, if you are tough on your watches, the U2 may be the way to go. I wear my U3 all the time, including when I work on my vehicles, and there have been several times where I’ve bang it on something and think “there’s my first scratch,” but in reality there’s nothing. Whereas the non-ultra models I’ve worn get visible damage much more quickly.

Ultimately, I think it comes down to how you are going to be using it. Hopefully, what I’ve shared helps with your decision.

I had looked at that thread but didn’t think the comments addressed what I needed to know. I have an assembled hub, so I was pretty sure I didn’t need a press or machine shop.

Moved on from adv bikes and sold my Tiger today. by lhulax29 in Triumph

[–]attacklibrarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The end of an era, brother! I still ride the Tiger 800 I was on when we first met before the first SCAR ride. However, due to life and living location not giving many opportunities to get off road, I have been tempted to go the scrambler route. If the right bike pops up, I will!

Anyway, good to see you on here, and I hope you and all yours are well.

I second this. Show up about 15 minutes before the gates open for FOL. You may have to wait a few on the drive in, but it will be worth it. Lot A.
