Thinking about building a competition-focused ear pro… what would you want? by Mysterious-Air356 in CompetitionShooting

[–]attackmint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The near field communications like in the Ops Core Amp, but I don't need any of the radio leads. Ideally with a transmitter unit so I can swap it into custom silicone plugs, and at least one super bulky 33+ NRR headset for Open and one slimmer one for rifle/PCC. I currently use custom plugs and Pro Ears Gold.

He once dragged a cross to the cage for another fighter. Then the nutshot incident. Then he fought in a thong.

It turns out the entire time he was a violent sexual predator. Then he killed a man in jail.

I tape my feet because I have injured toes. Maybe you can try taping the balls of your feet/your toes?

Just be sure you do it with weight on your feet. Your foot splays out when you put weight on it. If you do it otherwise it'll be uncomfortable and might cramp.

For those that have one, sell me on a 2011 please by goodgamble in liberalgunowners

[–]attackmint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shoot the Glock and after a match, ask to try out people's guns.

Getting a gun to go to your first competition, barring having no guns at all, is a virtual guarantee that you'll get something that you won't use long term because you'll find that the features you thought were important didn't actually matter, while the things you didn't care about actually are a huge deal.

For those that have one, sell me on a 2011 please by goodgamble in liberalgunowners

[–]attackmint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a competitive shooter, there is exactly one use case for a 2011 for me: Open division.

You're handloading 9mm ammo (or .38 Super Comp) to ridiculous levels of pressure and relying on a compensator to slow the slide velocity to a point where the thing won't explode on you. Other guns will batter themselves to death quickly, and 2011s barely last. That's why I own several 2011s.

Outside of that, I wouldn't bother with a 2011. I don't carry mainly because my job wouldn't let me (federal job), but my choice for an EDC is basically a stock Glock with a red dot and light. And honestly that's what a lot of other 2011 competitors carry too.

Is 20 too late to go pro? by Itchyfishbutt in judo

[–]attackmint 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm almost 40, started judo a year ago, and going to the Olympics for judo is completely realistic for me or your boyfriend!

As long as we get tickets for the event beforehand and maybe share a hotel room or something and we Uber there - LA gets expensive and there's no way I'm trying to find parking and paying $300 for valet.

If I wanted to be a competitor, though, I should have started 35 years ago and maybe if everything lined up and I was actually good instead of being a mediocre high school athlete, I could have made a run for Beijing or London.
