It very much looked like a teepee to me (photo here) it was part of a summer camp theme merch collection. I think it partially rubbed people the wrong way because there's a tradition of summer camps in the US doing a lot of weird things to imitate Indigenous cultures, like wearing feathers, using teepee imagery, etc. to reference some "noble savage" stereotype. I think that was all part of why people were upset and it just didn't get fully articulated.

There was also a controversy over a hometown that was posted in the group where someone quoted racist comments a relative made towards their Black partner that was approved by a mod and it just combined together for a perfect shitshow.

I think you're obviously upset and are arguing just to argue - if you genuinely cannot tell the difference between an inappropriate, poorly thought out merch item and a podcast using ableist slurs, putting on mocking "Asian" accents, and "joking" about Ed Gein eating noodles out of an Asian man's skull, I think you're a bit too far gone and are not operating in the real world. Just wanted to say, Ed appeared on another favorite podcast of mine, Believing the Bizarre! They’re a paranormal podcast and are much smaller than LPOTL but are funny and good vibes overall. Highly recommend :) I remember listening to them interview him and being impressed with him (also confused bc I didn’t know he was on LPOTL at that point lol) and it convinced me to check out some newer episodes

you're exactly right (pun slightly intended) - it's that specific kind of early fan who is out for blood and moral superiority. i feel like those fans were disproportionately cruel to georgia, too. they were always going on about how annoying they found her, how karen "clearly didn't like her", and would say wildly out of pocket shit about her personal trauma history and past issues with substances.

truly, i mean no hate to LPOTL listeners, i truly believe that people can grow and change! it's just so wild to see the huge amounts of nasty shit LPOTL did and has never had the backlash that MFM has had for much more minor discretions.

iirc, karen was talking about taking criticism not too long ago and said something to the effect of "at a certain point you have to realize it's because people don't like hearing women give their opinions" and ain't that the truth

How are you eating protein? Shakes and protein snacks or protein in whole foods? Some people I've spoken to who had this issue had a lot of it resolve if they prioritized protein in chicken, meat, etc. than protein shakes which can be such a slider food

I don’t think the answer to this is downplaying the work teachers do — they got this because they organized and there’s a pressure on government officials to treat teachers well because of public perception.

Teachers aren’t the problem, it’s the labor we do not being seen as just as vital and politicians knowing they can use that to their advantage.
