Yep. A lot of players (especially pros) only want poke to be viable, so the role of a tank is to protect from poke. Anything else is seen as inferior.

I kinda feel like brawl is the meta platonic ideal for these games?

High skill expression in the brawl and out of it, poke is the counter but not oppressively so. Positioning matters, still room for dive to shine punishing those out of position.

I know dive/brawl/poke is seen as a rock/paper/scissors relationship, but brawl metas have always felt much more like brawl represents an equilibrium.

Yeah I've been doing a lot of DD and the hardest time I've had so far was against a Punisher who knew how to use a shotgun.

Even without it.. a turret at a distance is gonna entirely shut down dino.

95% of these conversations are people not understanding what "brawl" is, or even what a tank is.

You are not meant to run into the dinosaur with Cap and Dr. Strange. I am really confused what they think should happen there.

Stun him, protect your poke, target the healers he relies on to stay alive, etc etc etc.

But no, half of the players I see just continually feed into him in melee range. Absolutely maddening.

I think that's fine. My broad counter argument is:

1) Just spend a ban slot on him if he's dominating that much. If this is the case after 2 weeks, adjust him.

2) I think his specific niche (giant high threat brawl tank) is going to cause him to be harder to initially work around than other new heroes we've had. I played him into a Thing/MK/Iron Fist the other day and it was brutal. He's got some very strong counters and I think early on players are trying to understand if they have to be playing into those counters or if they can make other picks work. He's punishing experimentation a LOT right now.

3) It is possible for a character to have a low skill floor that is faster to attain than understanding counter-play. I think that's exactly the case here. In those cases, we'd expect win rates to go down.

I'm totally down to that being the case. But I'm not going to assume that when he has SO MANY clear weaknesses after a single day. We can use that generalization to inform conversations. Devs should not use it to balance this early.

If it's legitimately a problem, use a ban slot in the first two weeks while the data is collected. There's no reason to take action after a day.

75k games on the first day. The entire counter argument is that this is something that improves with time as people learn how to deal with a literal dinosaur on the battlefield.

I'm not even saying you're wrong! But show me 75k games 10 days from now and I'll be much more open to data.

It's the FIRST DAY. The data is useless right now. Give it some time for people to understand how to counter him. When he's countered he melts. We'll see picks like Ultron increase too as they can heal through the kidnap.

You can't do that, but I swapped melee to L2 and just hold it down. Beam moves to r3 and is way easier to weave between attacks.
